Re: The V2 project
An interesting update, Thomas Benidini is putting together a sound file for me of the V2 rocket engine burn and it sounds pretty good, we are struggling to find an audible German voice counting down from maybe 10 to zero, can anyone help?

Re: The V2 project
The original 'idea' for the countdown came, IIRC, from a 1930's German sci fi movie... perhaps Metropolis? In it a German voice counted down backwards from 10 until launch. After that, it became de-rigeur for rocket types.Phil Woollard wrote: ↑Sat Jul 18, 2020 3:13 pmwe are struggling to find an audible German voice counting down from maybe 10 to zero, can anyone help?
Wait, belay that... found it. Fritz Lang. Woman in the Moon is the movie title. Fritz Lang, indeed, did create Metropolis.
Sadly... it's not a "Talkie." Well there goes that bit of arcane rocket theory.
Well, now at least you have a great musical score for the unveiling!
Cheers,

Love that old film, must be the same director as "things to come" maybe? The C of G on that rocket would be interesting to say the least!
If one of our German speakers wants to become famous send a period recording of a count down to Thomas or me and I'll send it on.

Re: The V2 project
Whilst waiting for parts to arrive for the Chieftain build I've been settling into the new workshop and quietly working away on refining the Chieftain and working on the V2 plumbing. Lots of annealing copper pipe to make it soft. This version is going to be very accurate I hope, Vince you should recognize many of those 3d printed parts?

Re: The V2 project
I've been adding the liquid oxygen pipe work and it's starting to look like a pipe organ, I have another three to bend up and fit. The compressed gas cylinders, that's the yellow bottles, are in place but need plumbing in, the hydrogen peroxide steam generation system is now all there, that's the black vessels, all in all I'm very pleased with the look.
