Vince do you fancy having a go at the sabot round but vertically orientated this time? That would be challenging. 8)

but vertically orientated this time
I was under the impression that with Cura one can orientate the model in any direction.

Is this the sabot round??

I've not worked out how to do the orientation yet! Yes that's a sabot round, apfsds. They are kinetic energy darts, it's purely the mass travelling at tremendous speed that defeats the target, very scary if your on the wrong end of that brute! 8)

Them there's the apds, they are shorter like the one in the photo on the right, they sit in racks vertically around the turret ring, in fact they are most easily seen through the turret hatches.. 8)

Hi Phil

Drew the long version of the sabot. I think it came out well but I suspect that the finer details might not print properly.

Now I will try drawing the short version of the sabot.

You put me to shame vince! I have trouble just typing. I'm sure the details will be just fine. I can easily cut the fine grooves with a blade on my little old lathe during cleaning up. 8)

File sent.

Have a look at this cura tutorial video. I think it tells you how to change the orientation of the model in cura.

Hi Vince, I cracked the Cura orientation printing selection setting. I think the Cura ultimaker free download is a bit basic. I think they want you to use the online pay per print option but I will sort it with a few upgrades.
I'm now printing vertically, I did change the layering thickness from 0.2 to 0.1 but then changed it back for the test print as it would have taken to long. If this looks good I may try the thinner layering.
I'm having trouble with my laptop right now, it won't receive emails for some reason and my iPad is to basic to run the printer but I will sort it. 8)

Good to hear that you managed to change the orientation of the models in Cura.

With nothing else to do I decided to install Cura also. I downloaded the version that is available on the Anycubic site (version 15.04.6) and as soon as I installed it I got a popup that a newer version is available. Downloaded that one (version 3.2.1) and installed it. Giving another popup that a newer version (version 4.5) is available. So I guess the one on the Anycubic site (version 15.04.6) is a very old version.

Hope you manage to fix the laptop problem. As they used to say on the TV series "IT Crowd", did you switch it OFF then ON. :D :D
One can also use a sledgehammer.

Much done although it doesn't look like it as it's all fiddly work now. 8) Vince I'm printing the short shell as I right this. Just checked the Cura downloaded program and it's the 4.5 version. Thanks again for the cad work it's just great! 8)

Good job I'm sitting here with nothing to do but make parts for you then Phil............................................

I actually knocked these up while doing work that makes me a decent return earlier so I now don't have to cast them 1 at a time, with luck you'll have them in the week :-)

They are now sitting in curing silicone.

Best regards

Dave
