The 3d printer arrived, I've put it together calibrated it all and it's now busy printing an owl!

Make a rotary base junction for that floor and you will be able to rotate the turret 13 times clockwise before the turret unscrews and falls off.

It was so exciting, I thought it was going to be one big owl but it turned out that wasn't two clawed feet it was two different bodies!

Back to turret interior, you may have to invest a tenner but these may be useful?

Unless anyone already has them and prepared to share with you.....

You made my day Phil. Good to hear that you were able to 3D print from my stl file. So what do you think? Does it look like a scaled down version of the real thing?
With the large area of your 3D printer you could print more than one shell at a time.

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
I've not cleaned it up yet. There's quite a bit of scaffolding to remove but that's no big deal and the quality is excellent. I wonder if it would print ok stood up on its nose maybe?
I think you should be proud of that shell Vince!
I'm still learning to operate the machine and getting used to the Cura software that we have downloaded to run the file, it's all very promising indeed.
I will try to print say six shells at once, I will send you one as a thank you, just need your address by pm.
We have downloaded a scanning app that simply (simply my arse) uses your smart phone to basically take a guided video of the subject on a grid on a turntable, should be interesting if it works ok, it did have good reviews. So that's the next step, scanning!

Phil trying printing vertically. Should be ok, no overhangs to speak of. Perhaps less woodgrain effect.
Best regards,

Re: Chieftain build by Phil Woollard.
Hi Bob, we are working on the editing of the stl file program as we speak, we need to change the axis so we can print any which way with minimal cleaning up, I don't want to lose the tracer holes either as some of the rounds are stored nose down in the turret racking.
I've been printing shells since dawn this morning ( this machine has to pay for its self asap), do you know the machine even tells you the individual manufacturing cost of each unit, less you time of course!
I'm now about to start cleaning up the shells in the workshop, paint them and see just how good the quality is.
I also need to make a couple of the electrical cabinets today so I can replicate those as there are so many.
Scanning an object is my next steep learning curve.

A very busy day, cleaned up the shells, and have been working on the commanders seat and foot well.
