I was thinking about green for the inside of the NBC box. Now I really need a photo of the inside of that rear hatch or I will have to use my imagination :lol:

Can anyone identify this area of the turret please? I would say loader as it's left of the breech and there's plenty of room, also what are the conical fittings at head height, and the Orange handles?
Photo shows the left front of the turret, ie the loader's station. The orange handles are the breech opening and closing levers, used for the first round and for cleaning/stripping the breech. The left lever is the Breech Mechanism Lever (BML). Push forward on the BML retaining catch lever on the top of the handle and pull the BML to the rear to open the breech. The breech is closed by pulling the right hand Breech Closing Lever. The breech remained open after gun run out.

The conical fittings are the front end of stowage for two APFSDS projectiles (="fin"). The two small clips to the left are for the loader's SMG and to the left of that, out of frame, is a stowage rack for one more fin proj. Fin was introduced in mid service and, as a much larger projectile, required a lot of extra space, resulting in a revised ammunition stowage.

The beige stuff is the spall liner, which covered a lot of exposed turret wall.

Thank you Stephen, I wonder if Dave might produce some of the pointy rnds, I could do with a few of them.

The rear hatch detail I am really struggling with. I believe from the info from you guys that they housed the metadyne compartment, and the other hatch was for the radio batteries compartment, just to clarify which hatch was for which? Can you serving guys remember what it looked like in there per chance?

Message for Dave, did you see my request for another two turret position seat sets please? I will then have a total of three for all the turret bums!

I have decided to bite the bullet and flip the turret over now before there's even more fragile detail added, should of done it earlier but didn't.

Although I'm painting this area I may end up fabricating an entire turret interior from abs. I just need more reference photos. I have removed the slip ring so I can think about the turret interior , this will include a half turret basket but we will see!.

I have made the barrel replacement doors for the rear bulkhead, I presume there was a bulkhead to keep the metadyne batteries away from the crew compartment?

I'm supposed to be having a day off today but after my Sunday tidy up I just couldn't resist getting a bit done. 8)

Where ever possible I use bought in enclosures but I will have to make many many more by hand.

This area needs to be filled with the metadyne system and the radio batteries. I'm going to need to build the breech to make the interior look convincing, that's so big it with cover most the visible electronics.
