Thanks for the info Adrian. Their "contact us" page is saying that "email server is back up and running". Somebody here kindly gave me a gmail address for them but that did not help either. I don't have facebook.

I know somebody here made his own rifled insert as I came across that post some time ago. At the moment searching for that post.

If memory serves, Stephen White did it for his Panzer III.

Hi Vince
I don't know if I understood, however, the outside diameter of the grooved tube 88 FOA and the 16mm (poor). This is what has come to me.

Not doing anything exciting at the moment. Just painting the turret and mantlet components. So today I did something which takes me out of my comfort zone :- zimmeritt! I thought, let's see if I remember how to do it. I quickly realised that the shape of the mantlet did not help me at all. I quickly discarded my first attempt as it was rubbish. Second attempt looks a bit too rough but before I go for the third attempt I thought I would ask here and see what you guys think.

Honest opinions are very welcome.

Vince the mangler is a difficult shape to apply zim. Yours doesn’t look bad. The vertical lines jump out a little bit and it looks heavy overall. If you do it again maybe just press the tool a bit harder and try to get it thinner.

Hi Ivano

I used the second drawing on this page:
http://tiger1.info/EN/Telescope-holes.html
It does not give the actual diameters of the various step holes so I estimated the diameters. If you want I can measure them for you.

Buon giorno Ivano

Please find attached the measurements for the stepped hole insert for my late Tiger 1 mantlet (single eyepiece).
Tiger 627.JPG
I drilled and reamed 8mm the existing hole in the mantlet. Using an 8mm brass rod made the three stepped holes. Used an endmill or a slot drill to make them flat bottomed steps. Glued the brass insert in the 8mm hole of the mantlet.

As I said this is for a late Tiger 1 mantlet. Yours might be different with one less step and smaller diameter in the mantlet.

Hope this was useful to you.

Thanks Brian. I think I will redo it. Today, hopefully, I will start removing the tile adhesive.

Brian, I use a blunt wood chisel to chip it off. Infact I just re-did attempt no.3. Still not really happy with it but I don't think I will be re-doing it again.
