I'm going through the easy parts, well the more familiar parts to me and getting them finished and fitted, then on to the turret interior conundrum

Re: Late Tiger 1 commission build by Phil Woollard
Information for all:
In the final tigers, and in the last mid, on the walls of the tower, there was nothing attached, only MP 40 in its support. The stowage boxes were removed from the turret walls and replaced by 5 containers all connected to the turret ring, with other smaller containers inside without the lid.
The electrical junction box was attached to the front leg.
From the photos of the FOA kit, I seem to see boxes with lids and an electrical panel.

- If I put all this lot in a bag and shake it up, maybe it will all just fit in place nicely. The periscopes turned out to have porous sections in the cast white metal, the detail was good and one turned out ok but the others good parts have been used to enhance the turret example. the rubber head rests are nice.

They do look good Marco. Now to the 88. Oh and the pile of parts is getting smaller and the pile of resin dust is getting bigger! So all is good.

Re: Late Tiger 1 commission build by Phil Woollard
Hi Phil.
I have a question for you if you don't mind.
Earlier on, when you were fitting the rifling insert, you said you had to drill the muzzle brake 16mm. Did you drill it right through or only the length of the rifling insert? Coming to think of it, I should have asked you to measure the length and outside diameter of this insert but it's too late now.
A question for the other Phil (the boss).
I am assuming that the rifling insert is for an 88mm barrel but FOA have two types. Is it this one:
http://www.fieldofarmortanks.com/6si-ge ... 8-mm-guns/
or this one:

Vince,
the Catalogue number was Gent 0037-88 and I bought it from Martin Diessel on this Forum as part of a bunch of surplus new detailing parts he had for sale. Hope this helps.

Re: Late Tiger 1 commission build by Phil Woollard
Hi Vince and thanks Phil (the boss!) I drilled only what was needed plus a little bit to accept the rifling insert, you would need to wait until you had your chosen insert before you commit to machining as I would never trust the od of a part such as this, the construction of the insert (this one anyway) uses the rolled tube technique with an almost invisible join, so it would be possible to reduce the od by slitting the join but you would compromise that joint.

Re: Late Tiger 1 commission build by Phil Woollard
Thanks Phil and Phil for the info.
I have emailed FOA to ask for the outside diameter of the 88mm and 75mm rifled inserts to see which best will suit me.
