Many moons ago I went to an auction at Littlecombe Steam looking for old farm stationary engines, as I was into restoring these in those days. There was an Abbot for sale which drove off its low loader and went for Â£2800 which would be about Â£6000 in todays money, so they are going up in price faster than inflation. Abbots can also go on the road, so its not so important to find a place to run them.

A 1/4 full metal AFV would be too heavy to run by electrical motors and batteries. It's weight would be 3.4 times of it's 1/6 counterpart. Hardly could be handled by a single player, transported by sedan/hatchback.

I believe in "bigger is better" policy too. But.....to that BIG is out of the question.

Guys,

Over the years I have own a few vehicles, 432, Saracen F604C, Ferret, Humber Pig ( NI ) and for a very short time a Chieftain. All great fun to drive but the down side is fuel cost's, spare parts and fitting them. So thats why I now own 1/6 scale. Yes you can pick these vehicles up for less than a Armortek model but remember the Army sell them as scrap and a lot are.

Speaking as the person who does most of the packing I think you may not be surprised to hear that my vote would be a comprehensive 'NO'!

Hey.. was just throwing something out there....I just like the idea of being 1 up on the competitors...I found this company is thinking about making a 1/4 all steel tank..they even might make it driver operated...

Hey Michael:

Modelworks went into administration last June and its assests have now been dispersed. They will never be building a 1/4 scale tank or a 1/6 scale tank or a 1/8 scale tank. The guys who ended up with those assests (tank bits) are only making traction engines and steam lorries.

Thanks..I been waiting for a reply for about 3 months now about some parts I need to finish my 1/8 tiger tank....they still have an active website...saying to place orders for a re-realease of their tiger 1??

Hi again Michael:

According to the communications I've had with Dean (formerly of Modelworks now of Steam Traction World) they do not currently intend to do the 1/8th Tiger 1. Deciding instead to focus on the Steam Traction models.

I too had contacted them in regards to their Tiger (and never heard from them) as I was already into them for two other kits (traction engine and locomotive). They went under shortly after they proposed to rerelease the Tiger. That was one of the reasons I decided to take the step into Armortek's Panzer III - its about the same size as a 1/8th tiger.
