king tiger (2013) shut down

Post by Nigel Cooper »

hi guys, got a problem with KT, doing a demo on grass at a show and tank just stopped.
red light came on main power box, battery full charge and 24v going into board.
checked all fuses ok.light still on when all fuses removed.
push little button and it goes green for a second then turns red,
do I need a new power box or can it be repaired.
at the moment the tank is stuck on my van and cant move,
thanks,Nigel

Which module system do you have (Power Supply + Auxiliary + Motor Control or just Motion Control Module ) ?

It looks like the Main Module thinks the battery is flat.

Any burnt connectors or wires between the battery and the main module which might cause a voltage drop ?

It could be a fault on the module - I'm not sure if that is displayed by the light going red.

Adrian.

hello ,yes it has 2 power boxes ,speed control and soundcard box.4 boxes in all.
I think it will have to be a new job.took the board out and looked to check for burning but cant see anything wrong
got good power to the board. i'll have to see how many arms and legs it will cost for new unit.
thanks for your reply.

Could it be weak batteries? They may show that they give the correct voltage but when you put them under a load the voltage drops dramatically. Just a thought.

The typical voltage reading of a fully charged 12V lead acid battery will be around 12.7V.
Therefore, in a 24V set up, at full charge the voltage should read around 25.4V. If the reading is only 24V then your batteries will need charging.

Note these value vary for other battery chemistries.

found problem and fixed. a transistor had blown which switches relay on.
now running good. may fit a cooling fan to keep box cool as I run tank for an hour at a time.
