Ah! I'll have a look at that Vince,The sound is like a metal to metal.I greased the gear and the housing so i should see witnesses marks in the grease....hopefully.

Is there a procedure for spacing the drive sprocket?

So I guess there's a corresponding scratch on the inside of the sprocket.

I can't find it at the moment (maybe someone else can give you the link) but the recommended distance between the side of the hull and the sprocket is 16.5mm. In the photo that I attached to this thread yesterday, on the left side, there is a shiney silvery piece. That's a piece of metal having the correct size acting as a distance gauge so that I can attach the sprocket on the shaft at the recommended distance.

Thanks for that Vince,I'll measure mine to see what they are.Did you have any trouble with the idler Vince.?I see Brian had trouble with his tracks riding the drive sprocket,I think he skimmed 2mm off the idler.

Once I've run mine around I shall remove all the wheels and suspension arms and finish painting them and the Hull.How is the best way of fitting the wheels?At the moment I'm looking at putting the wheels on with the arm loose then setting the 30 deg with the wheels on one at a time.It looks like you need 8 arms to fit them with the swing arms set.

The other thing is the O-l rings on the suspension,I've tried a couple on mine and they seem to stop the arms going fully home against the Hull side.I Recall Kian telling you that you can leave them out.That seems the best option to me but if they need to be fitted then I will fit them.Ive got no machining facilities that I can use so I have to go with it how it is.

I remember I did some head scratching when coming to glue the brass bush in the idler assembly. So I went back in my build log to see what I did. This is how I glued the brass bush : viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6937&start=195 (half way down the page).

I am not saying that this is how it should be done. I haven't run my Tiger as much as Brian and I only did it on a relatively smooth surface but it seems up till now (fingers crossed) I haven't had problems with the tracks yet.

Sorry Glen but just realised that I did not answer all your questions.

For fitting the wheels, have a look here (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=6937&start=270). I was also a bit apprehensive at first but turned out easier than expected. Before fitting the wheels I set the suspension arms to 30 degrees.

Regarding the O rings, I guess the best option for you is not to fit them.

Thanks Vince,Adrian as I'm only in the test fit stage I did fit 2 but they seemed to stop the arms fitting up to the Hull so I've left them out for now.

I made a little tool to get the 30 deg setting on the torsion bars but I forgot to take a picture of it.Ive put all the wheels on but I could not get the required 16.5 mm gap between the sprocket and hull side so I took them off and I'll start again with them.

Great build, I am at the same stage as you. I am interested in the special tool you made to get the angles at 30 degrees. Is it possible to post a photograph or give me instructions so that I can build one please?

Allen,the 30deg tool.I initially just glued it but it kept coming apart,then I just bolted it but I didn't trust it to not move however tight the bolt was,so I did both.My original idea Wes to have the flat part against the Hull but the weld seams gave a false level,so I used it edge on on the outside of the weld seem an that worked.

Although you can't see it on the pictures I put a countersunk screw in so it doesn't interfere with the Hull side,but as I'm using it edge on it doesn't interfere anyway.Its goog to use for both sides.

I know it's a bit crude but it does the job.😊

The wheels,idler and sprockets seem to line up.I initially put 94 links on but ended up removing 1 link.I still need to do the other side.Ill put the motors in and see how it runs.
