Hi Brian,the metal filings and grove in the hull look awfully,you seem to be quite calm about it.If it was me I wouldn't be able to sleep at night.Once you resolve it could you please pass on the solution so I for one can learn by it.

I like your Battery,apart from being 24 volt what is the Spec and model No of the Battery?

Hi Glen some metal grinding is no biggie. One cannot expect perfection. No time to worry still have work to do. Would rather enjoy the experience and learn from it. As they say in the UK “keep calm and carry on”

The battery is ewt 24v 25ah. Lifepo4. I picked it up on eBay. I didn’t see this one in their website after a search. Might be an older model.

Got the audio programmed and the speakers working. Looks a mess might organize.

I am still tidying my wiring. I am doing it slowly. When I tidy a bundle of wires I test everything to see if everything is still working. If there is something wrong then most probably the problem occurred with the last bundle that was done.

Are you putting the audio module on top?

Vince, I need longer wires. I’m stretching them just to get things placed. I’ve got it set up now only took a couple minutes. The volume knob is hard to reach which is my only concern. I put the audio under the motion pack. Hopefully I can leave it like this but I don’t know what else will come up with further wiring.

I wound up extending nearly all of my wiring because in the process of figuring out the optimal location of the batteries, modules, etc. I found that I was disconnecting/connecting to those components more frequently than I would like.

So, I simply added lengths of wire (not much, maybe 3-10 inches) to the audio and motion control modules. Also, I included an extra length for the remote start wire, which I located on the left rear wall next to the battery isolation switch.

This way, I can leave the short length wires attached to each connection on each of the modules more-or-less permanently (of course, I can still remove them if I want). When I want to connect/disconnect, I use the connector I've built for each of those wires, to the wires provided with the kit.

It looks a mess because I have the MCM sitting on a piece of wood so I can access it easily. (Missing the audio module for now). But here you can get an idea of how I used short lengths of wires that can remain attached to the module

This shows some of the wire extensions with the battery isolator switch I built.

BTW, the pieces of Velcro on top of the motion control modules holds an insulated pad. The audio module sits atop it.

Also, I've added a small piece of electrical tape to the connector positive and negative terminals, as you can see if you enlarge the photo. Overkill maybe but absolutely prevents any possibility of shorting.

It's all trial and error to get the placement of various components to one's satisfaction.

Brian, remember you have to leave space for the turret turn motor.

Phil's arrangement is similar to mine in that his speakers are facing up and in the back beneath the grills. The sound should be unimpeded. My only concern is dust and debris that might make its way into the speakers. So far, that hasn't been much of a problem but if I run it in a dry, dusty environment it might become a problem.

Notice he also has his remote start switch where it is accessible under the left rear grill.

Very nicely done.

Vince is correct in his note about allowing room for the turret turn motor. I allowed enough distance between the motor and the hull, and also, between the motor and the other components (audio and motion control modules) so that I can wrap a short piece of 2 inch dia. pipe insulation around it for added protection.

Thanks Tom, since those photos were taken, I’ve made a bracket for the remote switch. Also fitted the smoker switch to a bracket under the grill on the other side of the tank. I had to drop the battery tray down as low as possible to allow for clearance of the upright battery to the decking support. I laid the front battery down to give plenty of clearance for the recoil motor when on full elevation. I also repositioned the smoke unit as you can see!

This layout looks ok. I scooted the speakers over to accommodate the turret motor. I faced them forward I want clear sound when the tank is coming at me and it will reverberate off the front Glacis.

Yes, looks like you have a bit more room by using one battery? I did find that the sound was muffled when my speakers were in that position, that’s why I moved them! Have you tried 360 degree rotation of your turret with full elevation to check clearance of recoil motor v speakers?

Intried to install my plumbing for the smoker but the fan motor is obstructing the path. It looks like the manual photo i don’t understand. I guess I’ll just move the smoker back???
