New running area?

Hi Fellas.
As you know we are still waiting for Leighton hall to come up with a new place for us to run our tanks

but in the meantime here are a few pics of a spot i have been to a few times at Hest bank there is plenty of room and its more up and down so better in some ways than where we normally go perhaps? no one has ever bothered me as regards running the models, parking could be a bit tight unless you parked farther down the road 100yds or so there is a farmers gate we would need to keep clear but other than that there is only "Canine land mines"to watch out for as this is a public area and they don't all pick it up.
I think it could be pretty good until Leighton make a decision and if you like the look of it we don't have to miss any meetings. It is very easy to find just drive straight across the level crossings as Hest Bank follow the road along past the cafe as far as you can go and park up out of the way near the last two houses on the beech road.
Please let me know what you think and wether or not you want to give it a shot.

That's the first Tiger I've seen pulling a trailer

Only messing mate, looks great

Looks like you've found another meeting place for us to run. Look's fine to me but I should think a bit chilly when the winter wind blows off the Irish sea. We'll have to get well wrapped up.
If Leighton Hall don't make their minds up in the next 2 weeks then the sea front it is.

we will be fine mate i have a winter Tiger you have a winter Panther just bring along a "wooly jumper" no puns please there are no sheep that i spotted in the above pics.
Seriously though i thought i would post the pics as Clive and someone else asked about a run on the 26th of this month so now Leighton can decide at Leisure but i will keep on at them politely to see where we stand.

Are Leighton given you the push?? Or are you not too happy with the running area given to you?

If you can find an area with good topography it will give the benefit of more interesting running than flat grass. The other thing is ease of recovery back to the car/transport. That area look good, I have often thought about sand dunes being interesting terrain.

Hi Alan.
No we have not been given the push from Leighton hall...at least not as far as we know

ha ha its just that the area we normally run in forms part of a pheasant shoot and the shooting season has now started and goes on till Jan sometime i think so we have had to stop for the time being

so it is just a question of a second option really that still has easy access and is only a 4 or 5 miles away from Leighton hall as well... come to think of it that makes it 4 or 5 miles closer to you

so when you coming up.

Ha ha yes or maybe a shot near someones rear end might jee em up a bit

i know what you mean about the sand but theres no probs you can't really see in the pics but its dirt road where we would park and the sand is a long way off and there is a thin strip of shingle that we would not want to cross

lol, so it would be running on grass again but it its better as you can see, as the coucil built up a low embankment years ago to stop flooding on big tides and its pretty good for running up and down it.
I will send Leighton another mail this week but at least now we have an alternative.

I am glad you have found this alternative. I would love to come up sometime, possibly in the new year. The other option would be to trade the tanks in for shotguns ! !.

If this area is close to the sea it may have quite a bit of salt on it, which isn't good for aluminium, so I would recomend watching out for corrosion. I now take the Tiger's tracks off periodically and dump them in a bucket of diesel for a day or two as this stops the old unplated track links rusting up and jamming in the links. Ok untill you need to get one out when you break a link.

Hi Fellas.
Vinny and i have been up to Leighton hall this morning and met Lucy and they have offered us an alternative running area, so we went along to have a look... don't get too excited its not brilliant please see the three photo's the piles of earth you can se are a no no theres all kinds of rocks in there big ones and bits of pipe etc to the right of this is a pile of wood chips that the tanks will easily go over and on into a wooded area that we can have the use of, now this is full of small saplings but i think with a little trimming we could soon have a track running through the trees? now there is more open room at Hest bank but on the other hand we do have permission here and no one can bother us and if anyone does we have been told this morning that we can tell them where to get off... so its up to you lads now to let me know what you think and i will get back to them with any questions you may have but...as i say it looks better in the pic than it really is!

Hi Paul,

On the 3rd photo the parking area looks a little damp. Had it just rained or do you think it doesn't drain that well

The saplings shouldn't be too much trouble and might be a bit of fun running through flattening them. I personally think it will be an idea to meet there next Sunday, have a look and chat and then maybe go and see your other venue to make our minds up. The best thing is that it is private and no worries about dog mines

Yes it had just thrown it down as normal but its a pretty wet spot in any case i would say, but i was hoping someone would come up with your idea of meeting there next week and we can all have a look and if its no good we can try Hest bank, sounds good to me say 10 ish next Sunday then? you go past the stables on the usual road and through a gate on your left hans side just befor the sharp right bend in the road, about 250 yds befor the main Leighton hall gates.

Whilst those rubble hills look bad at the moment if you tamp them down and maybe Leighton Hall could give you some soil they would make good terrain to play over. The woods may be more difficult because of al the small sticks etc. Given a combined effortfrom the team this could ba a good area to play in.
