Ask the experts - is this a tiger 1 wheel
Hi all
Went to a local danish museum in Gilleje, where the owner told that this was a tiger 1 roadwheel.
What does the experts say - is it a tiger 1 wheel

The Tiger only has six nuts/bolts round the hub.

Will drop him a note instead - thanks Adrian for confirming this

What makes us think it's German? I'm wondering if it comes from something post-war. Denmark has had M113 and M578. The profile of the wheel is very similar indeed to M113 but I can only find M113 road wheels with eight bolts. I suppose there may be versions with ten.

Well done Kent, that's it, just as I thought. M578 light recovery vehicle. The Danish Army bought 24 between 1966-70 to support their M113 fleet. This spare has found its way into the museum and acquired a coat of yellow paint intended to suggest wartime dunkelgelb. Steen, your letter to the Museum will have to be a masterpiece of tact.

Thanks for the original post Steen, these puzzles are entertaining, much better than sudoku. If you look at an enlarged image, the original olive drab paint is showing where the yellow is flaking. Stephen

Hi Stephen
Thanks for pointing out the original paint - havent noticed this
Well - I did write to the museum, being very polite, but apparantly they do not want to reply (for obvious reasons I guess)
If there ever is a response to my mail - I will let you know.
THANKS to all of you for the help to solve this wheel challenge
