I'm going slightly mad trying to be sure I'm putting all the turret things in the right position.

Got this aerial of the 131 (or is it CGI?)

Really think they should have taken the cover off the air intake before battle ;) Does the 131 have the air intake under the cover or is it missing?

I stand to be corrected; the ventilator (inlet fan) is under a armoured cover on the forward hull roof, between the driver and radio operator hatches. The extract on an ‘early’ Tiger is towards the rear of the turret roof. It was later moved to abovevthe gun breach, but that’s a later version of Tiger than yours. The pic should help.

Thanks Simon,

I did mean the ventilator fan. The bit I'm stuck on now is that if I follow the position given in http://tiger1.info/EN/First-turret-fan.html the fan seems to be too far forward and to the right.

All the other photos/diagrams I can find including:

seem to show the side of the stowage box "pointing" near to the centre of the fan.

Looks like a good book, which one is it?

Thanks again

Sam

Allowing for some distortion because the photo isn't directly overhead, the diagram and the photo line up quite well, which means there may be an error in the dimensions.

Thanks Adrian,

Great minds.. I've spent the weekend going crazy comparing eight different images fading them in and out.

Even more pronounced against Fury/131/(CGI?)
tiger1InfoFury131.png
?

All the other sources I have seem to align. I might lift the position from the diagram in the Tamiya 1/16th instructions.

NB I checked and the numbers match the image proportions in the image from tiger1.info

Hi Sam,

I agree with you ref the turret bin edge ‘pointing’ at the ventilator. If you go to FB, there’s two groups there; Tiger Tanks and Tiger Tracks. David Byrden (TigerI info) is a member, so you can ask him direct.
The book is good, worth having but out of print. It’s not worth the crazy second hand asking prices you’ll see, and there’s no info in it you can’t get elsewhere.
Do you know what source or reference was used when your Tiger kit was designed, it might help explain anomalies?

Thanks Simon,

I'm not sure what sources were used for the 2003 version, it was a few owners of Armortek ago and I think widely accepted that some problems.

I'll try and contact David Byrden.

Cheers

Sam
