Hi All.
I'm new to tanks but not RC.
I'm in the process of stripping down one of the earliest Tigers.
I'd like to ask for some help please........I've noticed that on the 15 tooth gear from the motor driveshaft, the teeth are all very sharp which indicates that they're heavily worn. I assume these need replacing?? I do not have a part number in
O the book Monique gave to me.
Anyone got any suggestions as to how to remove it please?
Many thanks Malc.

Re: HELP NEEDED PLEASE
They're pretty sharp to start with...
Can you see a difference in the profile between the two sides of each tooth ?
There's no separate part number as they were always supplied ready fitted to the drive motor.
As to removing them, the earliest Tigers just had a pin driven in between the gear and the shaft, as there is little to no lateral load on this part of the drive gear.

Re: HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Hi Adrian
Many thanks for coming back to me. I'm really stuck on this one!
I've had a look, and each tooths profile is different from the others.
You're correct, I can see that the gear is held in by a pin.
Not sure about what you mean by no lateral load on the gear??
In laymans terms, where do I go from here? The gears aren't available!
Do I need to buy a new motor? Am I correct that I can't use a new motor on an old system??
Cheers
Malc.

Re: HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Hello Malc,
who is telling you these gears are not available ?
I'ld recommend to measure the gears according the pictogramm and post the dimensions. Based on the Dim you can figure out the Module and be able to order some new ones
I'm sure that e.g. Maedler in Germany has the gears. The cheap ones are about 6,50 Euros, the good ones hardened 15,-€ each.
However , I'm sure in the UK there is a similar source to Maedler for these gears
Good luck and merry christmas
cheers,
Uwe

Re: HELP NEEDED PLEASE
Hi Adrian.
Many thanks for the website info. Got a couple of gears and all is sorted. Very grateful.
On a different note - could you please keep your ears pricked for any Sherman's for sale? If you hear of any that become available, I'd appreciate a heads up.
Once again, many thanks for your advice and help.
Cheers
