25pdr kit and limber

Post by Graham Hough »

Hi
General question about this kit. Are builders happy with the kit, up to the usual high standard?
Does the breach mechanism function? No I don't want to use it but it would be good to have everything operable. All comments will be appreciated.

Good evening Graham,

I found both the Limber and 25 pounder excellent kits with scope for adding further detail as with all the kits. The breach works well with some slight filing of the block in the guide.

Regards,

Dave

So it starts. Thank you Dave and Bryan, I took your advice and bought a 25pdr and limber. I will not be building soon but look forward to be able to start later in the year. Time to think about how I will build it, unpainted, painted, standard, modified or upgraded?

Information please. I may have missed them in the kit of parts but are there springs in the kit to operate the recoil system? If not has anyone developed a recoil mechanism themselves?
All advice will be appreciated.

There are no springs included in the basic kit.

Some people have added them to keep the barrel in place when elevated.

Thank you Adrian. Brilliant. It is always easier to develop others work so I am grateful to Marcus for his design.

I am working on the breech operating lever and the spoon shaped part number EJ0161 seems the wrong shape to operate the block smoothly. I was thinking of building up the 'top' edge with braze and reshape. Any suggestions?
