After buying the Benedini with the powerfull 60w amplifier, I wanted to upgrade my speakers and will replace one of the Tannoy speakers with this monster Its a passive subwoofer that connect the same way as the Tannoy speakers with the wire connectors.
It is perfect in size and will be placed across the paniers just under the motor grills.
Sound test is this weekend, where I will wake up my neighbours with the sound to at Tiger motor start
I hope the subwoofer will give the last topping on the sound - especially the very deep tones from the engine is missing with the current speaker setup.
It will be a gentle 30 hours start, but after this the volume will be increased.
Video will be taken so that you can get a feeling of the sound
Ah OK. Be interesting to learn how that works. I've never really understood why subwoofers have such high power ratings? Lot of air to move!? I've also been wondering what effect being in a metal box will have.
Took the Tiger inside the house and dismounted all the electronics for me to "play" with the interior placement of the sub woofer.
I really had to change a lot.
Made a new plate for the electronic to get all the electronic to be installed under the driver and radiooperator hatches.
Made a new plate for the batteries so that they could be places above the rear part of the subwoofer, just below the rear grills.
Smoke generator was moved a little bit towars the rear plate and voila - room for the subwoofer
I am in the process of installing all the electronis again and also doing new wiring for my newly installed bosch headlights and rear light, så the wiring at the moment is a mess - but this will be cleaned up later.
That is a tight squeeze. Please report back how it sounds, how much it rattles I'm particularly interested if most of the sound comes via the engine cover.
I managed to get the Tiger back with sounds sunday and the initial test was very good.
This coming weekend the wires will be structered and the top deck mounted again. After this I will video record the sound and post it on youtube with a link in this thread.
Really look forward to test it, even though that I cannot put the volume up to "high" before after appx 20-30 hours of play.
very interesting! I also use the Benedini 2 x 60 W amplifier in my Jagdpanther together with a small double coil subwoofer an 2 tweeters. In my other models I use some stronger amps (250 watts) with only one 2-coil-subwoofer (without tweeters) which fits better with the small glacis plate. The deep sounds are forceful, but high frequencies like the squealing of the drive train don't 'come' adequate.
To produce very deep or subsonic waves in the air you have to use very high electrical power AND very large speaker diameters which are able to radiate these frequencies. Both requirements are difficult to satisfy in a 1/6 scale tank. Furthermore there may be some problems with rattling parts of the model!
A comrade just installed a 1.200 watts amp and a 30"-Subwoofer in his 1/4 scale Panther. The sound (taken from a real Panther in the WTD Trier) is overwhelming and breath-taking, but his onboard cam could not produce any usable video clip while vibrating very strong!
Another part is the power consumption of the whole sound system. All my models need more electrical power for the sound than for the drivetrain when driving only straight forward!

The Benedini amp can be used with 24 volts, the usual voltage for our tanks. Most of the car-hifi amps work only with 12 volts and therefore need a powerful dc-dc-converter or a seperate battery.
In my Jagdpanther thread '8 years, 4 owners, no mile' I showed such a sound system.
I think I'll use one channel to drive a small mid/high range speaker and the other for the sub-woofer. I already have mono amps (and can upgrade the low frequency one if needed) and I can do the cross-over in the computer.
