Crew's eye view.

Post by Adrian Harris »

Has anyone taken any pictures of the inside of the Mark IV once the outer plates are in place ?

I'm spraying up the white interior and wonder how much will be visible through the apertures in the inner plates into the voids on either side of the sponsons and the rear voids containing the drive chains.

I like the look of the pictures Chris Fry posted of the Mark IV with the external cut outs, but it doesn't look as though much of the chain drive will be visible through the single aperture in the inner plates.

Adrian -

The chain drive is almost totally within the rear horns. There's a bulkhead that goes down over the motor drive, so none of it is visible from inside the tank.

If you look inside Excellent at Bovington, most of those cutouts were for storage, especially ammunition. So, while the crew compartment needs to be white, inside the void can either be black or red lead.

Is that what you were looking for ?

To confirm, once the outer plates are on you get to see virtually nothing...
