Re: Martin's King Tiger
Hi,
Sprocket rings look good! May I ask why you didn't make steel 18 tooth rings?
I'm unsure if these 73/800/152 single piece tracks used the 9 tooth rings
Cheers

Re: Martin's King Tiger
Hi Martin,
I also think that the KGS 73/800/152 was only used together with 18 tooth rings. Olaf manufactured those rings, but in a very rare version with pointed teeth. I tried also the 'normal' tooth shape on my tanks together with Olafs track links, but I must say that Olafs ring shapes run smoother! Therefore I tried own rings with a similar shape to Olafs rings, but thicker and with more tapered edges. They also do not fit the originals super exactly, but they run once again smoother than Olaf's.

Hi,
It will be interested to hear how tracks perform on your sprocket rings! Who knows maybe they were used at first.
Cheers

Re: Martin's King Tiger
Well, there is a discussion whether or not the KGS 73/800/152 was really used on the King and on the Jagdtiger before the end of war. Olaf told me that his original KGS link was found 800 kms far from german tank factories; therefore I am convinced that they were in use.
But if these track links are used, they also need an 18 teeth sprocket. Just my 2 cents.........
Sprocket rings in original 1/6 scale have a tendency to 'leap over' under hard load or when some dirt comes between link and sprocket. To get a better perfomance at running under bad conditions (sand) I like to use longer teeth like Olaf's pointed teeth. Unfortunately all the environment for driving our tanks (including sand and dirt) is '1/1 scale'; therefore I make this concession ..........

Hello David,
hello Gerhard,
i will hold you inform how the tracks will operate in hard conditions if the King Tiger is ready.

Re: Martin's King Tiger
Thanks Martin!
Are you interested to come to Reinhold's biggest annual 1/8 till 1/4 scale model tank meeting in Hausen am Bach near Rothenburg? You will see about 50 models driving! Your model was already there......... (Uff! At least ONE Armortek model to show here......

Re: Martin's King Tiger
Hello Gerhard,
i would like to come to Hausen am Bach but it is so far away from Hamburg!!!
When do you have this meeting? Maybe i am not ready with the King Tiger.
I have also a Tiger 1 from Armortek ( see Martins Tiger 1 ) but it is very far to go.
here some more photos from the road wheels.

Re: Martin's King Tiger
Hi Martin,
Reinhold's tank meeting is not yet determined for 2017; in any case a Saturday, maybe middle of July till end of August. Determination will follow next two weeks I suppose. Reinhold can help to get an overnight stay, so you can arrive Friday and return Sunday. You shouldn't omit that event!
Of course all guys here are invited to come to this event; with or without a tank! The only requirement for the tank is a size of 1/8 scale or bigger!
If there is an interest I will publish dates and location in a thread of its own.

Hello Martin,
That is a great looking engine, have you built it from scratch? love the weathering, you could add it to Phil's real or fake photos

Hello Paul,
I don't built the motor from scratch. Only the details and the paint is made by myself.
But here some photos from the idler with new ball bearings, the fire extinguisher and the mudguards after painting.
