If it sounds like it's blowing a continuous raspberry then it is very likely that the TBS5 is damaged.

David the chap I bought it from has kindly offered to have a look this Thursday. Would it be fair to say if I have blown the radio controlled unit just purely on a process of elimination I may be able to solve the problem by trying another remote control handset? although I don't have one at hand I think I should avoid turning it on anymore in case I fry it more. Then with a replacement if it doesn't work looks like wallet bashing time.

Do you by any chance use a transmitter with a build in benedini encoder?

If so.. One problem that sometimes occurs and is nearly always overlooked is that if the encoder has room to rotate sometimes it get stuck physically in the available space within the casing. It then keeps on transmitting 1 sound, which will repeat from the moment you turn on the sound card. Happened to me once. Took some time to stop looking at the card and concentrating on the encoder.

Not saying that it is the answer your problem, just a suggestion.

Hope you get it sorted

Thanks again for the helpful comments. I still think the ServoRelayXL may be the cause of my problems because I'm absolutely sure the green light was on constantly when I first checked the tank over. Best thing to do is first of all ask the original owner if he can remember if the light should be on permanently.

Thanks, I've ordered a new one. As I have mentioned just out of the corner of my eye I swear I saw a flash when I cut the wire to the LED from that unit. Plus I am convinced it was constantly glowing green as I mistook it for the battery condition light on top of the power module. This light is obscured at the moment so may look to alter its position so as to be able to see it when switching on. Thinking about given my disaster trying to get the red LED on the top machine gun to work I may give it a miss.

Just an update, replaced the Servo but no difference, took it over to David and we have concluded it's the sound card so I'm now trying to source a TBS5 with smoke supply if anyone has one for sale please let me know.

I would contact Thomas Benedini at thomas@benedini.de and ask about the cost of repairing it.

Otherwise, you'll need to find one with the Panzer III sound files, as you cannot convert the TBS5 from one tank sound to another as you can with the TBS Mini.

Thanks,
I have sent an e-mail because the website says sold out so if they are not due to be back in stock for some time it may be quicker to send it off for repair.

Hi David,

The TBS5 has been discontinued. The usual cost of repair is about 35 euros from Thomas inc p&p.

Just to say a big thank you to Adrian for sorting the problem with my tank sound card and for the additional electrical work he so expertly carried out.
I now have proper switches for my animatronic units and lights and a very tidy looking inside of my tank.
