2003 smoke unit top plate - missing holes?

Hello,

I'm just assembling the smoke unit and everything makes sense except where the fan would blow there are no holes. There are clearly holes to hold the fan on.

Does anybody have a picture of the smoke unit top plate?

The old style smoker with the radial fan had eight holes in a square pattern.

Four are to hold the fan and four are for the air to pass through.

The stock Armortek lid is on the left.

The one on the right is one I had made up to increase the amount of airflow.

If you don't get enough smoke out with the stock holes you can drill new ones on the diagonals from the fixing holes.

I wouldn't recommend enlarging the existing ones too much as they'll start to show outside the fan casing, which means you'll get smoke back inside the tank and that tends to make everything sticky.

Thanks. I need to hold off for a bit anyway as I'm going to try and get a 5v fan so it is less annoying to control from the computer.

To shift the same amount of air, on a fifth of the voltage, you'll {probably} need five times the current.

Use an IRL540 instead
