Guinness World Record

Post by Armortek »

GWR Record Page.jpg
We did it! Armortek and the Tank Museum are World Record Holders.

I'm delighted to announce that Guinness has confirmed our World Record. We haven't yet received the Certificate but GWR have posted the record on their web site.

Thanks to all who made the effort to bring their models, to Dick Taylor and David Fletcher for acting as independent witnesses and judges, to Vince Abbott for judging, to Gill and Mark for the inspiration and Chris Fry for marshalling everyone. We should also recognise the huge contribution made by Richard Smith and his Tank Museum staff, particularly Vicki, Brianna and Marcin.

We achieved a record of 81 "tanks", although the final model count of all types was 102. Suffice to say, I've had a robust debate with GWR over the definition of tank to get to 81. Thanks for your patience while we chased the result.

It's not a record likely to be broken any time soon, for all sorts of reasons......

We would like to echo Stephen's message and congratulate and sincerely thank all involved to make this possible. Most importantly we wish to give a massive thank you to Stephen himself who worked tirelessly to produce all the evidence required by Guinness in order to submit the attempt and his persistence and tenacity over the last 6 months in ensuring that this record was awarded.

Thank you

I guess that 81 is a pretty good tally considering the number of half tracks, armoured cars, field guns & anti-tank guns that were present.

I suppose that the Jagdpanthers & Stugs were also included to make up the total to 81.

Congrats to all involved in making this very enjoyable meeting.

Cheers

Hi Mark/Gill
That's great news and I wish I'd been a part of that ach !- does everyone who took part get a certificate ?, without being philosophical about things, what percentage of tanks etc. turned up as compared to production ?, just interested really.

cheers

It was, for me, a wonderful thing to be a part of, and a magical introduction to my Armortek 'career'.

But the laurels definitely belong to the organisers - I was just privileged to be there.

Congratulations !

A great effort, particularly on Stephen's part, to get a record into the Book! It was a grand day, and I enjoyed being a participant in the event and I would be happy to be called up again if this record needs bolstering with a bigger number, however not to soon 8)

Hi Gill & Mark,

Congratulations on the achievement, it was a privilege to take part, a great day for all concerned.
Regarding the Certificates perhaps it would be best to scan the certificate and reduce it to A4 size and email the copy to all concerned to save on cost of postage etc.

Dennis.
