module instal of lighting & barrel recoil function

Post by John Pissey »

Hi All

I have been spending most of my winter installing my modules in my Tiger. Most of it is complete except for the lighting.

1) I cannot find anything in the Armortek instructions as to how to hook up the Machine Guns lights with the sound module so that they would be co-ordinate with that particular sound. Is there a way to accomplish this? I also have one of Adrian's lighting modules but don't know where to hook this up either?

2) Where, do you wire the static lighting for the tail light and head light in the modules or do you have to run them separately? If the later, is there a electrical source and or relay within one of the modules that you can use to accomplish this any part of this?

3) The servo re-coil works fine when not installed on the barrel linkage but when I connect the barrel it seems to jam. When I manually move the barrel with the servo connected it seems to work fine. The only thing I can think of is that there is to much friction of the barrel and the plastic sleeve. How sloppy does this need to be?

Thanks
John

Hi John,

M/C gun led connections are on the amplifier module. Next to the volume control knob is a white plastic plug. This has 3 connections on it. The centre connection is common and positive the outside connections are one for m/c gun and one for main gun both negative, you will have to connect up between the centre and one of the outside pins. I can't remember which one is which but if you fire the m/c gun sound and move from one to the other until the led flashes. If you connect up the led the wrong way round it won't do any damage.

The only addition to this is that if you have Adrian's recoil and led unit this plugs into this socket as well and you have look at his instructions in that case.

As far as the external lights are concerned you can run them from the aux module. If you use the yellow and white wires that go to the turret harness (as these are no longer used, as they were used for the blank firer). The only thing to be aware of is that the output of these is 24 volts so you have to use 12 volt bulbs in the lights and wire them in series (I think the front light supplied in the kit is 12 volts). In order to control the lights from the transmitter you pick a channel and connect that channel to socket C (next to gun elevation socket B) on the aux module.

It's all a bit confusing but I hope it may have helped.

Dennis.

Thanks Dennis

I will try to connect the aux. lighting this week. I was in the Dorset area last fall visiting my auntie with my Mom. She has not been back since the war so the trip was very emotional for her. If I had only known you lived close by I could have visited you.

Thanks Again
John

Hi John,

Yes that would have been good to meet up. Did you get to visit the Bovington Tank Museum ?

Hi Dennis

Yes, I was there for the Armortek event where they tried to get a worlds record for the most # of their tanks in one place. Do you know whether they ever achieved the record, I had not heard? I also went to their open house the day after.
