Denny and I attended the Yeovilton Air Day yesterday with six tanks. It was a scorching day, attended by over 35,000 spectators, most of whom seemed to want to crowd around our pitch at one time or another. We hardly stopped running the tanks throughout the day and even had a crowd watch us load up. The audience didn't get any smaller even during the air display, with the notable exception of the Vulcan, which admittedly turned a few heads. Quite a few Armortek flyers disappeared into curious hands. Next year, we both thought there should be a bigger presence. It was certainly worthwhile and very enjoyable. So thanks Denny, for arranging such a great day out.

Obvious really:
Some nice aeroplanes (well it is my former life):
Setting up at crack of dawn:
Denny's early admirers or "and old soldier gives the youngsters some sage advice...":
The crowds gather:
I felt really sorry for the AA men - not a sniff all day and crowds leaning on their stand to watch us:
Interest from all ages, sizes and shapes:
The running goes on:
Only the Vulcan turned some heads, although our two loyal supporters remained:
Although nothing else seemed to distract the audience:
When I grow up......
Even when we were packing up....
We would do it again and it would be great to have a bigger presence. Thanks Denny for arranging it.
Regards, Denny and Stephen

Re: Yeovilton Air Day - with tanks
Another good day at Yeovilton, with myself, Mark and Gill joining Denny and Stephen for the day.
I'm sure Gill will be posting 'proper' pictures of the event but here are a few I took.
Highlight of the day for the plane spotters was the last appearance of Vulcan XH558 at the event, before it is grounded due to old age:
Even the Sith Lord bows before Stephen's Panzer III detailing skills:
Whilst Denny bows to the goddess of spare parts, after finding the crowds had trampled the trail arms on his new PAK 43/41:
A very busy day for us all, with lots of crowds around the pitch, plenty of running space and even the forecast rain held off for us.
Adrian.

Re: Yeovilton Air Day - with tanks
A most enjoyable day with Denny, Stephen and Adrian, with a very enthusiastic audience for the models all day in spite of the competition from above!
Thank you to Denny for organizing and for the ice creams! and to Adrian for lunch.
A few photos below (not sure they are very 'proper') we did have some interesting visitors though.....

Brilliant Armortek Day, thanks Denny for organising it. How do you keep a straight face when a bloke in Starwars costume sidles up to you and through his gas mask tells you all about his one sixteenth scale tanks and some show he's attended in Manchester. I hope my family don't see this........
Heroes of the day arrived early:
Aviation highlights:
Looking at our best at six am:
Early set up:
Once the gates opened, the crowds kept coming:
Thanks Gill, Mark, Adrian, Denny.

Re: Yeovilton Air Day - with tanks
Looks like I would like to be up for that next year. I had cousins from Wales visiting this weekend otherwise I would have been there. I like the badge, I hope she is not doing anything important !!!
