So, My wife very kindly purchased a 'Maybach' engine for my Tiger 1. Now it sits where the batteries used to, and there does not appear to be anywhere else in the hull for them to go, one will fit between the drive motors, but no matter where else I fit the other, it fouls the barrel elevation mechanism, which on my model hangs down inside the turret. I have located shorter batteries, but they are not as powerful, only 12 AH, I know some of you out there have fake power units fitted, so answers on a postcard please

Would they not lie flat on the floor, between the motors and the Maybach ?

Thanks for the info, losing the elevation motor was my first thought as there is a version that lies flat in the turret, as to lying the batteries flat I was not aware you could do that with the lead acid variety, can you?

An alternative would be to ditch the lead acid gel batteries and replace with a single LiFePO4 array, which would be half the size and weight and give you twice the performance (well, almost.....) There's a thread on it. All the best. Stephen

I wouldn't recommend it with a car battery, but the AGM types we use in tanks can be used on their side with no ill effects and no risk of spillage in normal use.

The specs for the golf cart 22Ah ones advertised in the sticky battery supplier thread in the Armortek Owners section here state "Usable in Any Orientation".

Hello William,

I lay the batteries flat on there side under the engine compartment
2 batteries 12V 22Ah
I cut the Maybach engine in two, beacause you only can see to top side of the engine.

Because of the engine and compartment detailing I installed on my current tiger build I needed to alter the interior layout of the model. The batteries were moved to under the turret. and the equipment were arranged to save space by mounting them on the sides, and / or vertically on braces similar to PC computer boards. By doing this the entire rear portion of the tank can be dedicated to a full engine / engine compartment and fans.
