Hull not lining up

Post by ChrisWahl »

I have an early Tiger from 2005 3rd release. And yes I am REALLY slow building it. I have a problem with the bottom hull and the rear left suspension arm not be amble to fit. It is the rear two on the left side. The bottom hull and all the bushing blocks are still loose. How do I go about getting that left rear section of the bottom hull to line up the bushing blocks so the suspension arm will fit without binding? Will enlarging the 3 front and two rear bottom hull attach points help? Seems once everything gets tightened it might get worse.
Also there is a small gap about 1mm on the right rear side between the hull bottom and side plate. The suspension blocks aren't pushing it apart so not sure how or if I need to fix that.
Thanks-Chris

Chris I had exactly the same problem and in the same place with my 2005 Tiger which I dismantled to rebuild. I knew I had misaligned something because the fit was perfect before taking the model apart! The solution was to go back a few steps and loosen all the fasteners in all the panels (Remove some if necessary) and move the panels around until the blocks lined up with the hull sides. There is quite a bit of leeway to reposition the panels to get proper alignment. a bit fiddly but acheivable.

Ill give it a try then. Is there an order that they should be tightened in so it remains square? Is it best to start front/ back/ bottom or sides?
Thanks-Chris

Because there are two axles next to each other, with no other blocks, there's nothing holding that end of the floor to the hull side.

One way to fix it would be to put in an additional 'false' block, , or just a bracket, next to the last aluminium block, to keep that end in alignment.

Adrian.

Chris it is possible to align everything - if I can do it anyone can! :D I would try lining up the two "difficult" ones first of all. Also check the various very early posts on this forum there is a huge amount of info available and the aspect of aligning the suspension is covered somewhere. Regards Pete

Got the hull lined up by enlarging the left rear hull screw hole. I think it was twisting the hull enough to cause the suspension arm to bind. Thanks again.
