Hello Ragnar

I am sorry. This would not be practical at the moment, once we have the sets manufactured we may be able to do this.

Hi Gill and Mark,

Good to see your plant is near full swing again after the makeover.

I'm interested in the Panther upgrade but would like some information regarding how much work has to be done on the origin 2006 parts please.
Can I use the 2006 wheels and swing arms?
Do I have to drill any new holes on the hull side plates or belly plate?
No bigger issue as My slow build Panther don't have an assembled hull yet...

Posted this here instead of in an email as those questions might be of interest for others interested as well.

Kind regards
Kent

3. Wheel upgrade only, 2013 Late Tiger to Early/Mid wheel configuration.

For the wheel upgrade, late to early, are the late swing arms capable of taking the early wheels?
And what about tracks?

Hi everyone

These upgrades offer a big improvement when going from the oldest kits to the newest and less so when going from the more recent models.

On the Panther the double torsion bar suspension gives much greater travel and means that the model can be set to dip at the front under braking, and rides more smoothly over the bumps. Existing wheels and axles are re-used. New suspension bars, arms and shafts are provided, along with new torsion bars. No new holes are required.

On the KT and P111, the upgrades give you the adjustable torsion bar setting. The P111 wheel upgrade includes improved wheel profile and the tube inserts. No new holes are required.

The Tiger suspension upgrades give you the adjustable torsion bars and one piece suspension bars. (new aluminium floors are provided for 2003 production models.) Wheels are now bolted to hubs with double bearings, removing wobble and ensuring that no wheels spin backwards. No new holes are required.

Hello John

Yes the suspension arms are identical for late, mid and early types of Tiger. The tracks are also unchanged.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the information, much appreciated.
I have another question for you and all Panther owners out there with the new double torsion bar system.

Is it recommended adding drilled pins to secure the wheel- and torsion axle to the swing arm?
I know this is frequently done on single torsion bar Panthers but is this a problem on the new double bars with its shim washers.
(Maybe a stupid question but I want to know exactly how to do this before I decide to go for this upgrade)

Kind regards
Kent

Hi Kent

You don't need to pin the suspension arms to the axles and suspension shafts on any of the models. It is simply extra security to stop the threads from coming undone. If you thoroughly clean everything before applying the Loctite they will not come undone. However if you are not absolutely certain you have everything totally clean, the pinning adds extra security. So, going to twin torsion bars makes no difference.

Another question has occurred to me on changing wheel set up Late tiger 1 to early or mid. Is the kit idler wheel set in the mid model larger than the late kit idler and would the larger idler be available?

Hi John

The suspension and wheel upgrades do not include idlers or any parts that vary from one version to the other. These parts are available as spares in the normal way.

Hi Chang

Yes, all nuts, bolts and pins etc that are required are included, along with etched parts as required.

Regards
Armortek
