Having seen the post by Stephen White and others on British antenna bases I figured I would make them. I like Stephen have some signaling experience, two years as a RSWO, Regimental Signals Warrant Officer, 1976-78. Unfortunately my memory is not as good as Stephen's. The mention of the C42 and B47 brought back some memories, one thing I never got the hang of was Morse Code, had to rely on my signal corporal that could read and send it like a book.
Anyway here are my new offerings that may interest some of you. The Larkspur and Clansman antenna bases, these are made of flexible rubber the same basic design as my German antenna base. Some detail is lacking such as the wing nut screw which to make as per the real one would require is being cast in brass or machined, so I am leaving it to those that want this detail to make their own. The round metal base that holds the real one with 6 bolts is also missing from the parts at the moment. This I will have photo-etch if there is enough demand. Another detail that is missing on the larkspur is the small metal washer near the top, again held by 6 screws, and the earthing strap. Here the washer could be photo-etched and small pan head screws are available, the head diameter in 6 scale would be around .040", the smallest I can find is .053" which will likely work. But for me to add this detail would be expensive.
Here are the current prices for the antenna bases. You may order now at a pre-production price of $25.00 without the round photo-etched base. If I get enough orders I will make the photo-etched base and those that order at the pre-production price will get the round base at no extra charge. If I make the round base the regular retail price will increase to $30.00. Pre-production offer available until September 20, 2013.
I have made a mold with one of each antenna base to produce the samples shown, if the demand is high enough I will make a multiple yield mold, otherwise I will fill orders from the single mold I have.
