new to the site and new to getting back to modeling, got lucky enough to find a Tiger 1 from a source south of me here in the frozen north (just thawing out now) so with the kit partially done and boxes of bits and pc's I find myself not only overwhelmed but in need of serious help, my days of 1/35th Tamiya products are gone, this is the real deal now.
I’d like to thanks the guys at Armortek who took the time to reply to my mails and make me feel very welcome here, I would also like to thank in advance anyone here who is willing to stand up and be a person of contact whom I can bug the hell out of when I hit road blocks, my first being the hull where a pre-assembled hull has very bad alignment issues with the torsion bar blocks, I’m struggling with the fact I may have to completely strip all assembly and start from scratch.
one other thing is i see reference to a Brass washer on the inside of the road wheels, what size is this washer? O/D-I/D and thickness? was this part of the kit or an add on?
I have never taken on a project of this calibre and magnitude, I am looking forward to the day i flick the switch and she comes to life though.
Is there anyone in particular who I should pay attention to in the Tiger World builds? I see a number of top quality models shown and take my hat off to the skill and dedication you guys show to the projects.
I hope to show my completed Tiger here one day and maybe get a pat on the back too.
Thanks for your time guys.
Martin.

Hi Martin, and welcome.
Whereabouts in the frozen North are you located ?
Which model of Tiger have you found ?
There is no brass washer shown in the original Tiger instructions so it looks like this was added by the previous owner.

Re: New Member in need
thanks for the warm welcome guys, a little about me should be said i guess.
Originally from Bristol, a proud Brit i hasten to add, left for Edmonton Canada in 93 as a machinist in search of a better life, grew with the company and now a Partner and Director, worked hard and enjoying life as best we can, married to a Glaswegian Lassie.
so to the washers, i have a somewhat garbled array of instructions for the tiger from the previous owner, i understand an illness has prevented him from completing his build, my best to him during his illness.
there are a few drawings which refer to a brass washer that fits behind the road wheel and the torsion rod, i do see the point as a lower friction against the brass will allow the wheels to rotate without the fear of galling.
the link refers to Stich's wheel build instructions.

i dont have any washers in my kit?

Hello Martin
Welcome to our world.
The brass washers that you refer to are spacer washers. The Original Tiger that you have did have a binding issue with the wheels. The wheel spacers that go in between the wheels require machining to get the diameter down as small as possible but keeping the original end dimensions. If you dont do this mod you will have wheels binding and going backwards.
When you put the wheels on the tank you must number them on the back as once fitted are not interchangeable. The wheel set up will tack a while to get it set up right and the model runs smoothly.
The track links will need a lot of bedding in and some fitting is required on the old track links.

Hi Martin
I have an Early Tiger and have an Early Tiger set of instructions still nicely bound together. So if yours is an Early Tiger and you need complete instructions that are relevant to your vintage of Tiger, let me know and I can see about copying them for you.
On another note, Stephen White has complemented me on the authentic squeals coming from tracks which are down to the wheels being loose and rubbing! So Lee Sellars reply about machining the bushes is something I am going to have to do. And is something I would advise doing as part of your rebuild. If anyone has any guidance on exactly how much to remove and what part of the bush, please do let me know!
All the best with your new acquisition, it will give you years of entertainment!
