John, there is a good Main railway line from Dorchester, through Poole, Bournemouth, southampton and then portsmouth. The other main line is Yeovil, Salisbury, southampton and portsmouth. Each of these towns have plenty of hotels or travel lodges available, Poole/bournemouth and Salisbury are all in the middle (45/60 min each way) between portsmouth and Bovington. i assum that you are coming over by car to your base as Bovington is abit of a distance from the nearist main railstation (wool station i think). Bovington is a great day out.

Thanks for the information. Trainstation no longer an issue. Still do not know if I am free to travel but have found accomodation. Thanks for the replies and PMs. Problem is wife want to go and that means shopping. 6 hour overnight drive in a mini with a Tiger in the back?

Have a look at the video in my tiger build in the forum. It fits, just. King tiger will not fit. Yes I did try. Drove 2500 km to Montenegro recently with luggage 2 mountain bikes skis and a 15 foot kayak and all it's equipment. Customs were amazed how much I could get in. I'm a neat packer. :D

Unfortunatly I will not get to bovington this time. Just cannot get away from work on friday or monday and too difficult just for weekend as ferries involved. Hopefully anothertime. Anybody going please post photos.
