I like to give them a scrub. Otherwise they blacken everything they touch. They do not change colour when washed. I like to paint them too. If you have to go to the seaside you could take the comet along.
Now that's a good idea John......sun.....sand......and tanks. Guess where we are today........Aberystwyth. Fish and chips again!!!!!
Of course, I will have to cut the lawns this weekend......
One set of tracks, cleaned, primed, painted, and fitted. I have used my tried and trusted method, (reference, Comet post) for track fitting.
Lay a long piece of timber over the suspension torsion rods.Place a number of old towels etc, over the timber. Carefully, load the tank with paving bricks, these are heavier than house bricks. The suspension will gradually settle, until the track links come together. Insert track pin, washer and split pin. Job done. Do not try this at home
Hi Mick
The tracks are looking very nice ,bit extreme tering up the drive way though hope your going to put them back after
all the best ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nick
Hello Phil, hello Nick, thank you for your replies. The previous owner of my property, left quite a number of 'items' when he vacated. Too many to mention!!!!!
But enough blocks/house bricks to build an extension.
I know it is a somewhat 'crude' use of paving blocks......however, it works for me.
As a separate issue, any ideas where I may obtain my tank commander. I am looking for someone like the Dragon 1/6 Cyber Hobby German Franz Bake Commander Panzer Division. I have spotted one in the US, I am quite taken with all the uniform colours and badges. I am not particularly interested in an historically accurate figure.
Regards....Mick

Thanks for your replies Phil and Nick, I will give those websites a try.
Attended a funeral this afternoon......my late uncle-in-law....I am now the oldest living member of both families......this is really nice to know and made my day. I intend to outlive everyone younger than myself
We will be watching the Olympic Torch pass through Welshpool tomorrow
Shortly afterwards.....with the onset of 'rain'.....I will be back to building the 'Jagdpanther'.... what joy!
I decided to build and paint the second track in three parts, Two times thirty links and one twenty five piece link. So much easier to handle in the paint shop.
Hi Mick
So it was you that was wishing for the rain,so you could work on
your Jagdpanther, instead of going to the sea side
Enjoy your track finishing.
Regards
Phil
