Re: Jagdpanther build at last
thanks fellow tankers for looking, the weather is glorious so not much action to show, does anyone have any info on the drivers periscope cover on the front of the tank, does it have a flap or hinge that can be operated to protect the lens from inside,i have made a start on the roof fittings, reworked the air vent and rotating periscope fitments also some work on the rear, all for now regards simon manning.

Another stunning weathering skill!
I like the painting and mostly the "Tetra 2" decal on the fire extinguisher. Can you advise how to find it on the net? Thanks in advance.

Lerh Chang

Simon,
Its hard to tell your painting and weathering from the real thing. The JP is looking brilliant! I've got to try and learn that rust technique! Fantastic work as always!
Best regards,
Bob

Re: Jagdpanther build at last
Hi Simon,
Very nice work on the exhausts. These are on the 'to do' list and so this is of great interest. Can you say how the neat right-angle bends were made on the exhaust pipes ? Also were the steel armoured shrouds rolled to size, or have you found a handy stock size of tube ?
Many Thanks
David

Re: Jagdpanther build at last
hello david, the tube and bends are from steve winstone, he found the right diameter and wall thickness, i have some scale exhaust plans which you are welcome to if you want copies, the level of build you are going for you might want these, the right angled pipes that go from the armoured exhaust gaurds to the cowels are ovoid in shape as they enter the cowels, a hard detail to make, i think the real ones were a cast pipe to make this shape?, the bends i made were cut tighter using a blow torch and junior hacksaw, cutting segments out and bending to a tighter angle and then re soldering for shape and fixing to the cowels, with your metal work ability you will find another solution, go to the website panther 1944 push translate button, its in german,i have seen the construction of metal 1/16 exhausts the same, superb detail and shows the shape of the cast pipe in cross section, hope this helps regards simon manning.

Outstanding Simon!
Another masterpiece in the making and I love it.
Thanks for showing "how to do" as I find those posting most interesting.
Will you add the 4 bolts to the Flammenvernichteren as the real thing?
Small thing like that add a great deal to the items I think.
Kind regards
Kent
