Late Production Tiger Project

The hard part is over, now its time for the fun, final weathering over the whole tank. The white outlines on the numbers were a nightmare with that heavy zimmerit on the turret. From the few war-time photos I have of this Tiger, they were rough painted by hand anyway. Kent can correct me if I'm wrong.

with the numbers and camo added on these builds they come alive, detail painting, weathering only enhances the quality, some good photos taken with a period background of this tank, you would not know it was'nt real, great job tim. regards simon.

Ha ha Tim how good you know me by now...
For some of you I am "Kent the Panther nut" while in fact the Panther is just a side show for me as my key interest are Late Tiger I and especially 101 SS in Normandy.

Yes Tim the turret number was hand painted and with a huge amount of "artistic licence" but with some sort of in common font for SS 101 you has spotted quite well.

The real guys did how ever paint them white first and then filled them with red. This was done during the road march to Normandy.

Please give Jurgen his well deserved crusher as he is an Uscha and with that on his head you have nailed the photo above of his #223 100% (just the chevron tracks is missing...)

Hi everyone

Continued the minor chips and also attempted the first layer of exhaust soot. More to go but taking it slow. As these Tigers were newly supplied just prior to Normandy, I'll keep the "worn paint" look to a minimum on the heat shields exterior. On many of the war-time photos, camouflage can still be seen on the entire shield.

Haven't decided how much I want to "bang up" he shields...if at all. Shame to do that to Steve's awesome parts.
