When I first completed my early tiger I, I took it for a spin in the winter. After driving through the snow for about 15 or so minuets the tracks and wheels iced up and the model drew to a halt. To get the tank back moving again I filled buckets with warm water and poured them on the wheels. this thawed the tracks and I was back in action and didn't have to haul the heavy tank back to the shop.

Ironically the same problem happened to the real ones in the russian winter, only they had mud in the icy mix which acts more like concrete, and lots of angry Ivans shooting at them to complicate matters .

Sticks, ivy, and branches are also things to watch out for. I one time had ivy spool up on my sherman sprocket like spaghetti.

snow could be a good playground, but it needs :
1) being very fresh, cold snow, which behaves like dust and does not stick much to the tracks (which need to be properly cooled off before)
2) hard pressed snow, the one you'll find on Sky-areas

heavy wet snow is to avoid like hell
