Open Day 2011 - Further Details.

Post by Armortek »

This years customer open day is 10th September.

It is hard to believe that this will be our 5th Open day, however from the feed back we have had, and requests to continue, hopefully it will be as popular as ever.

We will be open from 9.30am

As always the factory will be open for everyone to see where the kits are made. The CNC machining area which is the hub of the production area, will be have one or two machines running to demonstarate their capabilitties.

We will have our usual variety of items for sale, including kit parts and material in 'bargain buckets'. We will have some kits and or models for sale by sealed bid auction, the floor is looking a bit crowded so something will have to go! There will be an area provided where individuals can advertise and buy and sell Armortek models and accessories. ( a real life 'For Sale and Wants section'), and a fun competion.

Traders joining us will include, Lee Sellars of Newthorpe Models selling Armorpax parts, Dave Dibb, Steve Winstone, Russell from Barbarossa Books and Tim Catton.

Also this year we will be joined by Sym of Churchill Creations who will be selling his range of animatronic products and will also be giving a talk on the subject.

Outside you will have the chance to put your tank through its paces on our test track and as always we will be having our model competition, with a variety of classes including the best in show. This years winners will be treated to a high performance Kart racing experience at the Mansell Raceway here in Dunkeswell. Dan and Sara went to check out the course earlier today.

Most of all, you will have the opportunity to meet up and chat with other customers. We know from your feedback, that this is in fact, the most enjoyable aspect of the day, for most of you. With many friendships having been forged over the last few years, through your common interest.

We are happy for you to bring a partner or friend. Of course please bring along your models and do not worry if they are not complete, part builds are always of great interest for others to see.

It has become a tradition in the evening, for those who wish, to go over to the local air club for a drink and a bite to eat.

In order that we can prepare for the day as well as possible, please can you let us have the following information.

Name of Customer attending
Name of Guest attending
Which model/s you will be bringing
If you will be joining us in the evening

You can either email us directly, sales@armortek.co.uk or reply on this thread.

There will almost certainly be more information to convey, however this post is already very long, so we will post follow information soon.

Directions

For those with Sat Nav the post code is EX14 4RD. This should get you close!

For those without:

From the M5 come off at Junction 26. (approx 15 to 20 minutes)

Follow signs to the A38, then proceed towards Exeter, after a mile or so take a left signposted to "Monument". Follow this road until you reach a cross roads at the top of a very steep winding hill, go straight across (slightly to right) proceed down hill into Hemyock. Follow road through village, bear left at the Catherine Wheel Pub, driving past with the pub on your left hand side. Follow this road until you reach Dunkeswell. You will see the airfield on the right and Flightway is the first turning on the left after the 30 sign. We are on the right half way down this road.

From Honiton (approx 10 to 15 minutes)

Take the road signposted to Dunkeswell (also the Canadian Maple Leaf) from the A30.

After about 4 miles bear off to the left (signposted Dunkeswell). Follow this road down though the village and right out to the other side until you see the airfield on your left. Flightway in the last turning on the right before you reach the national speed limit sign.

We are on the right half way down this road.

The open day is just a week away and we will be posting more details of the day, competitions, auctions etc early next week. As always it looks like we are going to have a busy day, with many of you joining us, both from here in the UK and overseas. If you are planning to come but have not emailed me or posted here, please can you let me know as soon as possible so I can add you to the list. I only started the list when this thread was started, so if you 'mentioned' earlier in the year that you would be coming, it is possible that I have not rememebered so please do contact me to make sure.

Many thanks

Final details:-

Timing
We will open at 9.30 am. Those who are trading will be able to come in from 8.30 am to set up.

Parking
Our neighbour oposite (Transistional Fire) has kindly allowed us to use his yard for parking. Once this is full there is no problem parking on the road where there is plenty of available space (please park on our side, right) and on the road that runs along the back of our building (please park on the left). Those of you bringing models will be able to unload these at our gate before parking your vehicle. Once unloaded please move on promptly to allow others to do the same.

Frequency Control
This brings us on to frequency control. This was much easier last year with many now on 2.4 gHz. For those who are still on 40 mHz please let me have your frequency preferably in advance and I will advise you of anyone who is running on the same as you so that you can liaise with each other before running to ensure safe running.

Checking in.
When you arrive please go firstly to see Sara and Chris who will be on the gate, checking you in, handing out the information packs containining important information for the day, and most importantly for the Armortek customers your refreshment vouchers! (Packed lunches not required!) For those with Armortek models they will also give you a number to display as your models will automatically be entered in to the competition.

We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, and for those who cannot make it I am sure some photos will appear here soon.
