Early Panther G

Post by Steve Norris »

As delivery of the next run of Panthers gets nearer i have started to gather some parts for my early G version.
These are the idlers and exhausts supplied by Robert Morley and are some of the best i have ever seen.

Hi Steve,

Good to hear you this time will go for an Early Ausf G.
My favourite G as I love the rough look of zimmerit and that the summer of 1944 is my kind of period in ww2.

Those items of Bob are work of art and I am so glad me made them as those were of immense concern of me in order to back date the kit Late G.
With a limited workshop almost impossible for me to make myself.

The two other necessary things to change is the mantle chin, quite easy (and messy) but might take some time.
And to have a second fan guards instead of the heater.
Tim makes wonderful fan guards and I have secured a pair for my own build, soon up in my saga.

Looking forward to see more of your build later on.
Kind regards
Kent

Guys.
Hopefully it wont be to long before delivery and then i will start a build thread.
Kent.
I will wait untill i recieve the upper hull before deciding how to proceed with the fan shrouds, I think if Mark makes as good a job with them as he appears to have done with the sprockets then i will just buy another from Armortek.
I would be interested to know how other builders did the mantlet chin removal and what tooling was required.
Regards
Steve

Hello Steve

When i took the chin off mine. I put on a milling machine to take the tip off. Then im afraid its out with a file for the rest. It took me a day to do. I have done a couple more since then but they still take ma a day to do.
