Help With Futaba 2.4 Futaba R-6014FS 14ch receiver

Post by Paul Wills »

Hi Guys,

I have not seen anything come up on the forum about receivers with the new motion pack, and I have a problem, can anyone help?

I am using a Futaba 10c trans, and I am using the a Futaba 2.4Ghz 14ch 6014FS receiver in my Tiger 1 which works well with the old motion pack. I also use a Futaba 2.4Ghz FASST 7ch R617FS in my halftrack. I used this Futaba 2,4Ghz FASST 7ch R617FS receiver to set up the KT, and it drives and turns the turret and gun elevation, all sounds work no problem.

I bought a second Futaba 14ch 6014FS receiver so I had more channels, and this is where my problems have started! Everything works apart from the turret turn and gun elevation, it does not matter which channel I put them on, they will only work in one direction, but occasionally they will reverse very jerkily . At first I thought it was the receiver, so I asked for a replacement. I have now installed the new one and it is the same problem, however, if I revert to the 7ch receiver all works fine! But obviously I cant have the extras I have added working!

Help please as this is driving me mad

Hi Paul

Have you tried a new module, for the turret turn and elevation? Has paul m got a spare one you could try?
Or Gill? as the are a very easy system now, just plug and play.

its all ways best ruling the main power out first  then its your radio  you could try sending John an pm, as he is also useing the 14ch recievers  .

Richie
p.s do you still have a 40mhz radio you could try?

Hi Richie,

It can not be the module, because the 2.4Ghz 7ch R617FS receiver works all forward & reverse motion, sound, turret turn, gun elevation, blank firer and lights with no problems. However, as I have explained I need more channels and as soon as I plug the 14ch 6014FS receiver in, everything works apart from turret turn and gun elevation in the reverse direction, it also doesn’t matter which channel I put it on. I have checked the motors, if I reverse the polarity they run fine, so it is localised to turret turn and gun elevation with the receiver!

The only thing anyone has offered that might be a cause is the 14ch 6014FS receiver uses a lower out put voltage than the 7 and 8 channel receivers, this was incorporated as a battery saving device, and this may just be too low when the signal is reversed to operate the switch.

I Have spoken to Mark and when he has time, he is going to look into this for me?

You Have beaten me to it Paul i think you have hit the nail on the head there, i have had a similar problem with a different type of radio granted but the problem was lack of amps from the 5v battery there was just not enough power and it seems as though certain channels get priority power and the peripheral shall we say auxillary channels get left out in the cold, a simple check if you can do it would be to remove the power supply from the reciever [ armortek supply ] and then plug in a 4.8v battery of known integrity this would be my suggestion.
cheers.
