Suspension arm

I took one of my suspension arms to the hardware store today, I've found some nice alloy tubing . I'm looking at machining off the raised threaded part on the outside of the wheel axle end so as to let the tubing slide over without cutting it .. Then making up a washer to bring it back up to original height , has anyone else thought about doing this .... Dale

Were you going to trim the corners of the suspension arms? What is the size of tubing you are thinking of using?
