Original Option Pack Setup

Post by David McConnell »

Wondering if anybody who may still have a Tiger with the original option pack 1 setup could help please.

I have Steve Winstones wonderful lights whihc are 12V, not being too R/C savy can anyone tell me if the fuse box supplies 12V rather than 24V out of any of the glands?

I thought perhaps the AUX power but now realise that as the smoke unit is fitted to it it is 24V.

I am sure there are others that fit these lights, perhaps a photo of how it was done?

Dave

Hello David

No all the power out of the control box is 24VDC. What you have to do is put another battery in and power up of that. Just a small 3ah battery will do.
If you want to swith the lights on and off via the transmitter you have to put a switch unit in the same as the switch units for the turret turn and elevation. Hope this helps.

Thanks Lee,

I have a switch unit that was supplied with my sound unit as I have no black firer I am assuming that this leaves me with a spare switch on this unit?

Instructions I have from Mark are very confusing as they talk about element sub loom and blank firer in same paragraph and depending on how you read it one may be forgiven for thinking the switch unit supplied with the sound unit is not used at all! Due to not having a blank firer.

Perhaps switch unit came with smoke but in any case I dont have a blank firer so not sure why I would be connecting smoke unit to a switch unit then to channel 5 on my receiver

Sorry if I seem confused .... I am .....

Hello David

If you have 3 switch units then you can use the 3rd one for the lights.
Which sound unit have you got? original or the thomas benedini one.

Good question! Not sure, specker is in my power supply box and sound unit has seven wires going into it that were not in a connecter (all loose) Also had to add another wiring loom to gland from power supply and splice two wires into speed controller receiver wire (although not sure what colour I do this to yet)

The original Tiger schematic is in the Armortek Gallery:

http://www.armortek.co.uk/gallery/main. ... temId=6594

The third switcher should be for the blank firer - the original sound unit doesn't need one. Looks like Gill sent you a spare

There's a bit of a thread about the Tiger sound unit here:

Ignore the extra wires - Roland explains about them in the last message in the thread.

Adrian.

Hello David

That sound system is the original sound system. Armortek now use the Thomas benedini system which is tons better than original. Do not splice into leads use Y leads as spliceing causes intermittant problems with the sound.
Original sound 3 sounds Not proportional
Benedini sound 12 sounds and propotional.

Hi Lee,

Well thats no good!

After seeing the new module setup I am seriuosly tempted to just update the lot (except my motors of course) Do you think it would be worth it? New speed controller looks the goods.

Especially the sound unit. I mean whats another couple of houndred pounds when one has already mortgaged ones house to partake in ones hobby lol.

Hello David

I had the same problem many years ago with the system you have. I bit the bullet and upgraded. Never look backed since. Well worth it. It helps it run better.
Now there is earlier threads on here that help you get your tiger to run more smoothy ie machineing the wheel spacers and adjusting the ride hieght.
Oh just thought on your drive sprockets have they got a taper lock in? Its a bush that is tapered and grabs tha drive shaft as you tightem it up? Or is it just got a Drive dog and the sprocket just got a Paralell hole in it??
