SELLERS, PLEASE GIVE COMPLETE DESCRIPTIONS, PICTURES, AND PRICING FOR YOUR MODELS AS WELL AS YOUR TERMS OF SALE.
I AM HOPING THIS DOESN'T COME ACROSS AS A RANT; HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO MAKE A POINT.
MANY OF THE SELLERS LISTING THIER MODELS FOR SALE ARE NOT QUOTING THE PRICES THEY WANT IN THIS AREA. I FAIL TO SEE WHY THAT CANNOT BE DONE, IN FACT, I WISH MARK AND GILL WOULD MAKE IT A REQUIREMENT TO POST HERE.
ALSO THOSE SELLING MODELS THAT ARE COMPLETELY OR PARTIALLY BUILT NEED TO GIVE A COMPLETE AND ACCURATE DESCRIPTION OF THE CONDITION AND ALL OPTIONS AND AFTERMARKET UPGRADES THEY HAVE ADDED.
POSTING PICTURES IN THE ADVERT SEEMS TO ME TO BE SELF EVIDENT. TELLING PEOPLE TO "LOOK IT UP IN MY GALLERY SPACE" OR "GO TO ANOTHER WEBSITE" IS TIME CONSUMING AND DOES NOT CONVEY TO PROSPECTIVE BUYERS THE PRESENT CONDITION OF THE MODEL AT THE TIME OF OFFERING IT FOR SALE. BUYERS WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE GOODS ARE LIKE TODAY, NOT A YEAR OR MORE AGO WHEN YOU UPLOADED PICTURES TO YOUR GALLERY.
SELLERS, THINK OF IT THIS WAY. YOU OBVIOUSLY WANT TO SELL YOUR GOODS, SO MAKE THE EFFORT TO PUT YOUR BEST ADVERT ON THE FORUM. PUT ALL THE INFORMATION PERTAINING TO YOUR MODEL AND PICTURES SO THAT YOUR SALE WILL STAND OUT. PRICING IS VERY IMPORTANT TO POST PUBLICALLY. IT GIVES THE MARKET GREATER CONFIDENCE IN WHAT IS BEING OFFERED ESPECIALLY IN TIMES LIKE THESE WHEN ECONOMIES ARE HURTING FINANCIALLY AND PEOPLE DONT HAVE THE READY DISPOSABLE INCOME THEY ONCE HAD.
I THINK IT IS HIGHLY IMPORTANT THAT MODELERS CAN TRACK HOW THESE MODELS SELL ON THE SECONDARY MARKET. THE TRUE MEASURE OF THIER WORTH IS WHAT THE MARKET IS WILLING TO PAY FOR THEM. THIS WOULD HELP EVERYONE INVOLVED MAKE THE SMARTEST DECISIONS WITH THIER MONEY.
KINDEST REGARDS
JAMES LESLIE
SELLERS PLEASE GIVE COMPLETE DESCRIPTIONS PICTURES AND PRICE
SORRY, I SOMEHOW POSTED THE SAME TOPIC TWICE, I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DELETE THE DUPLICATE SO IF MARK OR GILL COULD DELETE THE DUPLICATE THAT WOULD BE GREAT.
ALSO, A SHORT POST SCRIPT.
I WISH TO THANK MARK AND GILL FOR AFFORDING ALL OF US THE SPACE ON THIS FORUM TO POST OUR MODELS TO BUY AND SELL. I REALIZE THAT IN DOING SO, MARK AND GILL ARE ALLOWING US TO SELL OUR GOODS EVEN WHILE THEY ARE ATTEMPTING TO SELL OUT THE BATCH OF NEW MODELS. THE HALFTRACKS AND 88'S BEING A CASE IN POINT. I HAVENT SEEN A THANK YOU POSTED BY ANYONE WHO HAS SUCCESSFULLY SOLD THIER MODEL HERE SO, IF I MAY BE SO BOLD, I WILL SAY "THANK YOU, MARK AND GILL" FOR EVERYONE.

Hello James
We have always believed that the forum should be a place where Armortek customers can share information, thoughts and ideas. By restricting access to Armortek customers only, we believe we have one of the most informative, friendly and constructive forums in the hobby.
We very rarely delete a posting, allowing customers to freely express their views. Although we can understand your feelings with regards to the information provided when people choose to sell their models, we believe it would go against our general philosophy to start dictating how this is done.
We are very happy to provide the For Sale and Wants section to all customers free of charge. Many web sites that get 100,000 hits a day, as ours does, would certainly be charging to reach such a targeted audience!

If someone wants to sell a good looking complete or partially assembled model, then it is in their interest to provide easy access to images of it. This could be done by placing the image in their posit, or by a link to the Gallery. A striking image of the model might just provoke someone to become interested in buying.
On the matter of pricing, I'm not so sure that posting is necessary. One could leave it at 'best offer', or they might wish to vary the price based on distance, or reduce the price if the item is not selling quickly enough.
So while these could be useful guidelines, I agree there should be no "Ad Nazi" patrolling and demanding content - I could see it now - an E-Mail arriving from the moderator "Ihre Fotos und Preise Schwein!

I think it's reasonable for those who are selling to simply have an email contact(as I think every one of them has). They can advertise however they see fit or what works best for them. If someone is really serious about purchasing a used kit, it's not too much trouble to email and ask for photos, pricing etc., through email direct with the seller. I guess I don't get what all the fuss is about. I can only imagine the number of not-so-serious inquiries sellers must get.
If one chooses to put pictures and videos of a kit for sale that's great too and I, like everyone, also think it would be in their best interest. But to have it as a requirement?

I'd like to put in my two cents' worth, having successfully sold one item on the forum and having advertised and withdrawn another item.
It should be entirely up to the seller as to what information he puts into his ad, and how easy he makes it for people to access pictures and other additional info. However, I for one am not fond of the practice of forum contributors putting portfolios of photos in their forum entries. These photos increase the time needed to download and view any particular thread, and must be downloaded every time one revisits the same thread, even though one might not wish to have to review the photos again just to access the rest of the thread. That's exactly what the gallery is for, and I think it's entirely appropriate to refer anyone who wants to see pictures to visit the contributor's gallery portfolio. In fact, that's one restriction on forum entries that I would not mind Armortek instituting, some kind of limit on the number and/or size of photos that can be included with each entry.
Other than that, I'm grateful that Armortek allows resale advertising on their forum and does not regulate the content. Other than a prohibition against obviously false or misleading advertising, I think it's great that each and every individual can make his own decisions as to how to market his efforts.
