I think I am probably going to end up making my own cone head bolts on my CNC lathe, so does anyone have the dimension of the cone (diameter, cone angle etc) Are they all the same size?
Also can anyone tell me why cone headed bolts were used on the German tanks?
Thanks again
David

hi david
the coneheads are that shape to deflect small and large calliber rounds if a round hit a flat head bolt it could push it through the hull i dont think the crew would be too happy also if bolt heads were blown off the tank would fall apart if you look at drawings they are all at strategic points
taking angles off drawings it looks like they are roughly at 40 degrees ?
their are two types 5 small on the hull back plate and 2 under the turret pistol ports in scale these are about 4mm - 4.5mm wide ?
the rest are large about 5mm - 5.5mm ?
lads please correct me if i'm wronge
regards
colin
