Open Day - just over a week to go!
Hi All
With just 9 days to go to the 2009 Armortek Customer Open Day, time for a further update.
Thank you to everyone who has confirmed that they will be joining us, it looks like we are going to have our best attendance to date.
If you would like to join us and have not yet replied it is not a problem, either e-mail
this information directly to sales@armortek.co.uk or if you prefer you can reply on this thread.
We will be opening at 10.00am. There will be parking available in Unit 9 just passed our unit on the opposite side of the road. If this is full there will be plenty of room to park along the road itself. Please park on the right hand side (our side of the road) .
Children are welcome as are dogs however it is a factory environment and as such they should be appropriately supervised
Frequency control
Most of you are now running on 2.4 ghz which makes everything a lot easier. Please could anyone who is planning to run a model and is not on 2.4ghz email me with your frequency, I will then give you details on the day of anyone else who is running on the same frequency. If you have a model to unload you can do this at our gate and then park your vehicle. If you are not on 2.4 gHz please check with me for clearance first.
Food and facilities
As with previous years complimentary food, tea and coffee will be provided for Armortek customers and will be available for purchase by friends and family.
We will have a limited amount of seating available, however if you have a fold up chair you may wish to bring one along.
Name Badges
As with previous years all customers will be given a name badge, this helps you find the people you have been chatting to on the forum and helps put faces to names. If anyone still has their badge from last year if you could let me know and bring it on the day that would be very helpful.
Traders
We are pleased to be joined by:
Russell of Barbarossa Books
Tim Catton
Lee Sellars of Newthorpe Models,
Steve Winstone
and the
South West Tank Club
Dave Dibbs from Armorpax will also be joining us, however Armorpax parts will be available from Lee Sellars on the day.
Trading Post
There will be an area where you can advertise, buy and sell your Armortek items and modelling accessories.
Competitions
All Armortek Models brought to the day will be automatically entered into the competitions which will be as follows:
Best Allied Vehicle (Sherman, M2,M3, M16)
Best Tiger 1 (Mid, Early, Late)
Best ‘Other’ German Tank (Panther, Jagdpanther, Panzer III, Panzer 1V, King Tiger)
Best ‘Other’ German Vehicle. (Sdkfz 7, Sdkfz 222, 88mm Flak 36)
Best in Show
- Please note previous years winners will not be eligible to re enter – (that is the specific model not the builder!)
Last years prize was really enjoyed by the winners..........
so again we will be giving a prize of a flight in a 1952 Beech 18, the flight will take place in the afternoon (weather permitting, although I am told it will fly in most conditions!) and the winner of Best in Show will get the best seat next to the pilot!
Lee Sellars is kindly donating an Action Figure which will be the prize for an ‘extra’ fun competition on the day.
’Armortek New Generation Electronics’
Mark will give a talk on the new designs and developments of our option packs. He will answer questions on this or any other aspect of Armortek........except ‘what is the next model going to be!!!'
CNC demonstration
Our Haas VF4 will be running a demonstration programme.
At the end of the day!
As with previous years we will be ending the day with a meal and a drink or two at the Dunkeswell Air Centre which is just over the road from us. They offer a range of simple but good quality food at very reasonable prices. Please let me know again either by e-mail or on this thread if you would like to come along so I can give them an idea of expected numbers.
As this is already a very long post! I am going to do a further update next week, this will include details of special offers, bargains, kits and models being offered on the day.
Also directions to our factory and any last minute information.

Tony,
Andy's Dragon Wagon is absolutely stunning. I don't want to steel his thunder but you will hopefully see it for yourself. I wish I could see it in person. If it doesn't win "best in show" it would be a shame! Is the show only open for Armortek models?
Please take pix of the opening day! Wish I could be there.

Hello Gill & Mark,
as you will certainly imagined, even this year I will not be with you at the open Day.
I am very sorry to not be able to meet new and old friends, but for me, in the month of September the holidays and the long trips are finished. I'll wait the photos.
My greetings to you and ti all participants.
