Pz III Long Bins

Researching the Pz IIIs used by 10 Pz Div in Tunisia, I've come across a few photos which show a non-standard long bin on the front right catwalk. Frustratingly, I haven't yet found a good photo side on. I thought at first that it might have been a local mod within the Div but then I found this photo which Achtung Panzer 2 attributes to 300 Pz Regt in Sebastopol 1942. So perhaps it was after all standard on some early Ausf L. Anyway, it's quite distinctive and will make a good feature. Not sure yet if it was wood or thin metal, nor any idea of the purpose. Anyone got any better photos out there, or info?
