I'm after some tip's on the best way to get the front tires onto the rims ? Dale

Hi Dale
Not opened my kit yet but on the 2014 build the recommended way was to boil the front tyres to soften them and the push the hub in place , I seem to remember using a block of wood and a rubber mallet.

But it maybe different for the current model

Mine fitted on real easy, just eased them on.

I'm thinking about making my side panels out off aluminium has any one else done this ? .Dale

Little bid of work going on . I'm not sure if I'll stop working on running gear for now , and move onto top superstructure . May be Simon could chime in on the idea ? Dale

This is how I'm doing my double road wheels . First clean with prep wash , then etch prime both sides , I decided to use kill rust one step gloss epoxy paint which is a very slow drying up to 16 hours on the inside of the wheels It's a very tuff hard wearing top coat as this will protect against rust and wear as I don't won't to have to go back in between the wheels again . Adding all the nuts and bolts on my bench was a pain so came up with the idea of setting up in my lathe all the nuts and bolts were primed first as this will give a better coverage for the final coat of paint on the out side of the wheels , before I glue the rubber tires on .Dale

I'm not sure how the other kits are I needed to cut a notch in the top corner of the lower rear floor to bring up to there correct height .Dale

Looks like I need to drill tap and counter sink a M3 bolt to pull up the mud guard to the rear cast end .. Did any one else have the same ?




I think I have worked out how to have the top hull be able to lift off and still have some fasteners to hold it down Dale

Yup, going to be drilling and tapping to pull the rear mudguards up. PLease post on your idea to remove the body work. I have had to remove the first small support to get the body work off.

I fixed the gap forwards and aft with the guard when I put a straight edge on it I found it was bowed in the middle fix now . The front side panel up the front on the lower end where it bends over the mud guard needed bending out at the bottom to a line with the fire wall .Dale
