A few hours spent sanding and cleaning suspension arm parts to get smooth rotation. Bit more to do before I give a final degrease / clean and then etch prime. Was going to leave shafts bare and coat with lithium grease as specified. Or should I etch prime them as well?

After few hours sanding, cleaning and degreasing ready for etch prime. Surprising how shiny they become. I imagine an unpainted built kit would look pretty impressive.

Lubrication query. The current version of the SdKfz 7 kit recommends lithium grease for the suspension shafts. However, I have part used cans of ROCOL OxyLube and ROCOL Dry Moly Spray. Would these be better than the Lithium Grease?

Kian sent me this photo of angle to set on Idler assembly. Hopefully of use to other builders.

Thank you very much for this explanation. I asked myself the same question about how to consider the 20° angle. :D

Need advice regarding page 16 of the build manual. The M8 Nut on the end of CG1244C doesn't appear to do anything when screwed on. It seems there should be a washer of some kind between the nut and idler arms CG1113 / CG1113M. Is this correct?

Andy,

I haven’t started my SdKfz yet but looking through the directions I don’t see anything either. I would either blue loctite it or use a lock washer. The illustration doesn’t show anything nor does it say use loctite.

The nut doesn't seem to do anything. It doesn't tighten onto the idler arm.....there is a gap that allows movement of the assembly back and forth. Even if it could be tightened onto the idler it wouldn't be secure as it is practically the same diameter as the hole, only the corners of the nut would contact the rim of the hole. I think I will message Kian at Armortek to clarify

Think I am getting there slowly. Possibly made a bit of an error which made things difficult when fitting this assembly to the chassis. I thought it would be easier to assemble this part fully before fitting to the chassis. However, I found that this component is fitted to the chassis using six M3x10 CSK screws, two of which are located through holes under the Idler arms. These screws are almost impossible to tighten once in position, due to there only being a very small gap between the head and the bottom of the Idler Arms. In the end the only way I could do it was to cut down an Allen Key so that I could get it into the head of the screw. Very, very fiddly. I don't know whether it would be better to fit the assembly first minus the Idler Arms, and then finish assembling?

Hi Guys
If you look at the pictures on page 3 of there build of the new model
the one of the close up of the rubber track pads oo the skdfz7 it shows a washer
between the nut and the arm so I think that's the way to go.
Not opened mine yet as building my Jagdpanther so not sure if the washers are supplied or
weather they got missed of the inventory in packing.

Hope this helps

Regards

Derek
