Wanted: M2 Halftrack dashboard data and instruction plate images

Post by Jerry Carducci »

I've been poking around off and on for good flat, parallax free images of the various data and informational plates on the M2 half track dashboard.
There's so many that without them the thing will look positively nude....

I have the instruments, including the volt meter. (As I have a pile of original WWII vintage meters of that sort inherited from my dad who was
an electronics wizard and also had a collection of enormous proportions of electronic components stretching back to the early 1930s. Most of it is gone no but his collection of meters remain. I recall going with him as a young lad to "surplus" stores with the stuff literally stacked to the ceilings)

Anyway I have attempted to capture images of the before mentioned data plates from internet sources, videos, images and they're never quite right.
The camera angle is off, there's a shadow over part of it- there's always something amiss.

I'd pay someone to capture these images, recording the original sizes to make resizing to 1/6 easier. My hope is to either print them as decals or photo etch them. I'd tried a photo etch of one early on but image resolution wasn't good enough to give a good result.

I know Peddinghaus has 1/6 scale M3 decal sheets but these only include a few of these plates and the sheets are quite costly.

So, there it is. I need good images or alternately if someone has already done this a source of ready made bits (in my dreams).

There is a good image on one of the M3 builds on the halftrack. info site which I am going to use, suitably resized.

If you go onto the Post Updates section and scroll down to Lucky 13 Restoration Process Page 10 there are images of the two main gauges individually and further down both gauges in the dash. Iirc if you reduce the image to 75% they should fit the gauge holes in the model dash correctly. Some light reflection but good enough, or you could touch up with paint after copying. Trawling through the numerous posts you might find the data plates as well.
