Possible US Battery Supplier

Post by Jim Fowler »

Folks,

I have got a lot of emails asking me to let folks know if and when I found a US supplier for the Yuasa ,TEV 12210 21Ah 12 volts batteries that Stephen mentioned in his build. I did find one:

http://www.monsterscooterparts.com/24-v ... -pack.html

They ar listed as 22Ah, but they are the same part number as Stephen gave when I called to verify them.

I did not order them yet....I am also looking at another possible configuration using 4 smaller batteries - I can get them cheap and local at a bargin tool store...just need to decide. But, I wanted to share this so as not to hold anyone up on my promise.
Thanks,

Jim

Hi guys

For some reason these batteries seem to be more expensive in the US than here. Have at look at this item on E-Bay 370165184995. At $34.50 they seem a good buy.

I would avoid using multiple small batteries because the current drawn is quite high.

I decided to go with 4 smaller batteries - 12V@14AH - purchased locally for $23.95 each. While I have some sales tax - its a lot less than the shipping I was quoted. Combined its a battery of 24V@28AH.

I understand about the current draw, but feel this configuration will provide as much runtime and also will set lower in the body. And, the supplier is local.

I guess time will tell.
Thanks,

Jim

Hi Jim
The fuses are 40Amp.With the Batteries at 44Amps run time is around 1 1/2 hours. So how long will a smaller battery last?
For my German half track using a 7Ah battery, every time I took it out in the grass they run dead with only 1 or 2 passes in the yard. And then I had to carry it back inside.
So you may get 45min run time, and less if it's cold outside.Let me know how they do.Thanks from Dan
