Problems with my turret

Post by Andy Thompson »

I took my tiger out for its first trip not on flat grass today. Developed a bit of a problem after running for a little while.
The turret suddenly rotated clockwise, and the gun barrel dropped down, it eventually came to rest pressing against the oil drum on the rear, having snapped off the catch on one of the engine hatches. It then wouldn’t move at all.
As an aside, I also lost the gun recoil a while ago.
I’m new to RC and got this tank ready built from tony so lack a bit of familiarization with the electronics.
Any tips on what the problem may be and how to fix it would be much appreciated.

Sounds to me like you had driven it out of transmitter range and you did not have the fail-safes set up correctly so it would stop immediately.
If you can post your Tx/Rx configuration, I am sure you will receive advice on how to do it.

If this is not a failsafe issue, you should replace one servo plug in your receiver after the other by a simple servo and watch the result. When the servo is movable correctly by the TX the problem is your tank electronics. If the servo moves unexpectedly your TX / RX is bad. The next steps are depending on this result.

It's always a good idea to thoroughly read all the manuals of your tank equipment (e.g. TX manual, RX manual, manuals of the electronic equipment inside the tank) before starting to use such a model.
kind regards
Gerhard

I did have a look through the manuals when I got it but they looked far too scary!😂
I’ll have to bite the bullet and dive in!

I would try the servo test first. Perhaps you don't have to dive into ALL manuals....
