to clarify, I would like to know of the panels on the other side of the bridge also have the circled male connectors at the same end of the bridge.

I thought nine rattle can's of u pol would be more than enough alas not I have another four can's on order so hopefully that will be enough.

Good evening guys.

Over the past few weeks tiny and myself have been working on a new workshop to give us more room to work.
Its not quite finished yet but has been well and truly Christened.
Well we managed to get back into the workshop over the weekend and today after the school holidays kids back to school tomorrow and family up from England for a holiday and now its back to normal.
Tiny and I finally got the last of the undercoating done.
The paint for the bridge arrived quite quickly after ordering.
We decided to paint all the parts prior to assembly this is to give additional protection from the elements.
The paint comes in matt or satin after chatting with Keith from paints R us he told me that the matt paint marks very easily so we decided to go with the satin option.
Once all the sections are made and painted we will give them a coat of matt varnish to tone it down.
We are using our old and trusted mini air gun I knocked down the paint to a 10 parts paint to 4 parts thinners it's a lot more economical than using a touch up gun and a 10 to 1 mix as recommended.
There is now part painted parts all over the workshop.
Hopefully we will get back to it tomorrow after school.

Great progress Steve and Tiny. Alex and me are watching your work and looking forward to starting on ours. What type of compressor are you using. I have a good quality airbrush compressor. Wondering if will feed a paint gun.

Good to hear from you as always
I will post a photo of my compressor for you tonight when I get home my old devilbliss gave up the ghost when the bearing collapsed.
I was talking to Phil Woollard a wee while ago and he recommended the one I am using now you don't hear it running its so quite.
I also have 500 ltr compressor for big jobs but thats overkill lol.
You and Alex are going love buildings the bridge mate it's a bigger job than it looks.

Should be able to run a paint gun. Have not had a chance to use much. Also you can connect two airbrushes at the same time.

Great job you have done.
for those who have not a compressor suitable for paint gun (not airbrush) you also have the possibility to use rattle can
Cf post from Laurent (viewtopic.php?t=8072)
Color / qulity of paint is very good.
Also, beware not to overtighten the screws for holding all the small brackets in between the side panels. Those brackets are"soft" and the can be crusehed easily.
I have made "some" spacer from brass tube (3*6) to avoid this.

Thank you for the lovely comment little tiny was over the moon knowing his work is ok.
The price of a rattle can for SCC2 is £17 per can expensive.
I used 15 U POL 500 ml cans for the primer alone.
I found out the hard way over tightening the nuts on our first panel easily sorted thank goodness and i think the spacer idea is a good one.

There is nothing wrong with the compressor you have as long as it goes over 40 psi no worries.
I'm not sure if it has an airtank for storage or weather its a straight compressor to gun which is ok for rough work because if you get an air blip it will go straight to the tip of your gun and will come out as a splutter.
But if you have a compressor with a storage tank this will eliminate the splutter great if your using an air brush for fine work.
Can you run more than one gun/brush at the same time yes you can as long as your compressor can keep up with the air tank.
My small compressor runs two guns/brushes with no problems.
All you need is a two way branch most compressors have this fitted as standerd along with a moisture trap very important.
The air gun is the same as the air brush it just gives you more paint at the business end for larger area's.

Thanks Steve, compressor has a tank. It easily manages two normal airbrushes. Sure it will manage a spray gun. Usually use rattle cans but know this kit is going to go through a lot of primer and paint. Much better to have the colours mixed and thin down for spray gun.
Good to know about that bracket issue. I will keep an eye out for that one.

for information, if someone wants to go on with the spacers, there are of 3 different length, depending on location / number of parts to be held (do not remind the length / number for each)
i used 3*6 brass tube which is a bit thicker than the standard 3*5, and needed afterwards to re-drill them as inner diameter is closer to 2.8 than 3 !
the picture shows the amount needed for 1 span

as for paint i used that ref : mocca (188) 327173
(just google it with spray can you will reach the right info)

May be not perfect SCC2, but close enough, not too expensive, and resistant to UV and scratches !
and seems those are available in the UK.

Hi guys

A bit more done on the bridge over the last few days more painting and a bit more making.
I have brought a new air gun to make life easier when painting all the larger parts.
It was only £18 from amazon worth every penny.
Tiny has been busy putting the parts together that is until he decided it was time for the Doom Buggy so off we went for a break to the field.
I would like to say he never rolled it he never took out the power box or the fence that holds the electric cable to stop the pigs from escaping but he did.
Rather along the lines of mad max just a litt guy instead of max.
