Battery Indicator

Post by Erichornby »

Afternoon All, I don't know if this is the appropriate platform to report a missing part but seems the Forum is "the place to go".
I am proceeding at a good pace with my Leopard (No 72) build and have started positioning the various components for the motion pack that was delivered in February. Having gone through every package and emptied the carton!! Granules galore!! I can't find the battery indicator anywhere.
First time that I have come across a missing part in all the material assembled so far, so I am just wondering if this has been discontinued in the latest option packs ?
On a totally different topic, another problem that I have come across is converting my new Spektrum NX8+ transmitter to single stick operation for the drive. Motors respond forwards and reverse but only 1 motor for each quadrant. The operating manual refers only to flight set up and is difficult to translate to non flight language, so I can't tie up any instructions. I only hope that single stick operation is an option on these transmitters !! Any ideas from the very knowledgeable Forum members would be much appreciated by this novice to RC

I've not seen the NX8 but on the DX transmitters you change the Aircraft Type to Elevon.

I normally adjust with the blue/yellow wiring at the motors until forward on the stick makes both motors go forwards.

Then if the tank turns in the wrong direction, swap over the motor controller leads in the receiver and it should turn correctly.

If your running the brushless motors then DO NOT CHANGE the wiring colour around it will not work.

An option in the transmitter to change direction of the motor is the correct way to do this without changing the internal programming in the ESC and thats not recommended.

Thanks Paul, thought that may generate some problems, instructions very clear on colour matching.
My problem is that I'm a complete novice at this RC control and have probably not received the best advice on the type of equipment, the transmitter I have bought is obviously aviation biased and as such allows a great deal of tuning, if you know what you are doing!!.
Will persevere for a little longer before I throw it out of the window :-)

Thanks for spotting that Paul, I'm still in brushed motor land here

95% of RC systems are designed for aircraft or wheels vehicles.

The only one I'm aware of which has settings for tracked vehicles is the Paladin PL18, which has settings for use with tracked earth-moving equipment, but it is far from ideal for a novice user.

One of the many benefits of OpenTX or EdgeTX based systems is that you can rename everything so that it relates to tanks.

Thanks Adrian. Visited the equipment suppliers yesterday and they assisted greatly towards adjusting single stick operation. Unfortunately they had difficulty in understanding the principles of track drive being helicopter specialists. Came home with 90% sorted. Visited a different specialist today and have moved another 5%.
I'm hoping that over the next few days will find some time to experiment further. When I get sorted I'll list the adjustments made and post on the forum for future reference by others swimming in murky waters:-)
Has anyone got any news on the missing battery condition monitor.
Should I approach Armortek directly??
