Dear Owners,
I have recently set up the drives for motors and turret on my Tiger 1.2003.
The transmitter is a TARANIS X9D PLUS 2019.
I have managed to get the turret fully operational with the left joystick. However, to get this to work I have had to use channel 2 on the receiver for the turret elevation instead of channel 1 that is mentioned in the documentation, and use channel 1 on the receiver for the turret rotation instead of channel 4 that is mentioned in the documentation.
In addition, I have used channels 3 and 4 for the motor drives. However, odd settings of the joystick are required, as follows:-
With joystick pointing up (ie North), only the left drive moves forward
north-east , left drive moves forward and right drive moves backward
east , right drive moves backward
south-east , left and right drives move backward
south , left drive moves backward
south-west , right drive moves forward and left drive moves backward
west , right drive moves forward
north-west, right and left drives move forward
Is this to be expected, and channels 3 and 4 had to be used to get this established, not 2 and 3 as stated in the documentation.
Perhaps there is a way of mapping different joystick positions across to different channels on the receiver?
In addition, I have connected RC In 1 and 2 connection of the audio module to the appropriate Y cable connectors on the drive motor cables as per documentation, and RC In 3 to channel 5 as per documentation, but get no hint of a sound from the speakers. Am I missing something here? I get the beep once from the speakers when powering up, but can get no sounds.
THE DOCUMENTATION STATES USE OF A 3 POSITION SWITCH ON THE TRANSMITTER. There are several: which one and how do I use it?

You won't hear any sounds until you have configured a switch.
Go to the Inputs page, scroll down to 05, press and hold the scroll wheel to get the menu up and release the wheel. Press once again to select Edit.
Scroll down to source and press again, so that it flashes.
Now you can pick any three way switch. If you are right handed, and using right hand single stick driving, I would recommend Switch A (SA), as you can operate it with your left hand thumb whilst holding the transmitter. I've converted my transmitter to use a push-button on each side as I find that easier, but I bought the TX second-hand, so no warranty to worry about.
Once you have SA (or whatever) selected, keep pressing the EXIT button until you return to the INPUTS screen.
Now use the PAGE button to move to the MIXES screen, scroll down to CH5, press and hold the scroll wheel to get the menu up and release the wheel. Press once again to select Edit.
Scroll down to source and press again, so that it flashes.
Scroll until it shows 05 and press again to select.
Keep pressing EXIT to get back to the main screen.
Press the PAGE button until you get to the CHANNELS MONITOR screen. Now when you move SA (or whichever you selected) you should see it move the bar from one end to the other as you move the switch.
Can you post a pic of your mixes screen as that will resolve why the stick is not working correctly.

Re: Tiger 1. 2003 1/6 scale
Adrian,
Thank you for your prompt reply.
I can now get some sounds out from the system, but they don't quite tie up with joystick controls yet.
Please find attached a photo of the tx unit mixes page. What is not clear is how I can map the various joystick settings to actual motor drives. For instance if i move the joystick to north, ideally both drives would go forward, south and both drives go into reverse etc. In essence, how do I map say the eight compass positions into the relevant changes on channels 3 & 4. Should this functionality be set up as mixes?
Kind Regards
Richard Noy

Re: Tiger 1. 2003 1/6 scale
To get single stick driving working, you need to mix the stick up/down movement and the stick left/right movement into two mixes, one for each track.
In your set up, where you are using CH3 and CH4 for the tracks, I would start with CH3 as +100 ELE and +100 AIL, and CH4 as +100 ELE and -100 AIL.
To make the ELE you need on CH4, use the thumbwheel to scroll so that the 100 on one of the ELE is highlighted, click once with the scroll so the whole line becomes highlighted, then move it down so it lines up with CH4. Click one to fix it.
To change the second ELE on CH3 to AIL, highlight it with the thumbwheel, press and hold so that the menu comes up, click once to select Edit. Scroll down to the Source line, click once to edit it and then scroll so that AIL is shown, then click once to fix it. Use the EXIT button to get back to the MIXES screen.
The last step is to change the AIL on CH4 so that the weight is -100. Highlight it, press and hold to get the menu, then press again to select edit. Scroll down to Weight, press once again to edit it, then use the thumbwheel to change the value to -100. Click once to fix it then use the EXIT button to get back to the mixes.
This should set up the two channels, but I don't know if the controls are the right way round. I name the inputs on the INPUT screen so that the right stick moving up and down is called RSUD, left and right is RSLR etc. That way on the other screens you know which stick does what without having to know whether it's AIL, ELE etc.
I also change the wires on the motors so that +100 on the channel is forward on the motor.
Try that and see what happens now with the tracks.

Adrian.
Thank you so much for the information on mixes, imputs & setup, Tiger is running as it should & very pleased with it.
It did take a while to get our heads around Taranis transmitter but we got there.
Just a matter painting it now, thanks again for all your help.
